My favourite are green stripey ones.

Frightful. Absolutely frightful, but practical and so comfortable.

Chewy - again from last years reading, and I might have remembered the wrong bank, but I think HSBC don't do AIPs at all? Taking the fee is probably a good sign. Halifax did a credit check when I applied properly (not AIP), then (same phone call) validation fee was taken and I was told verbally that the mortgage was approved subject to valuation. I believe I was probably credit checked again just before the mortgage money was sent to the solicitors, just to make sure I'd not gone crazy with the credit cards etc.

I'm not sure I'm going to attract any passing admirers. But whatever, I can chop my own branches :)

I've really got to find a way to remember macputer password its causing all sorts of frustration. :(.

I have obviously inherited RP 's memory. Unless RP has caught my broken brain!

Lir, do you or have you had a car number plate that you can remember clearly? I was told by an IT consultant that they make great passwords because they are not easy to guess but are easy to remember, and they are alphanumeric. You can also double them up to make an even harder password, e.g. AN62LIR27fir.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

That's a point, I remember quite an old postcode before all others.

I ended up accidentally downloading a software update last night.

The dogs had no bed time biscuit in spite all sitting beautifully.( bedtime biscuit is a treat for them but also one of my favourite bits of the day, they show their different characters so funnily for bb.....) So they know something is up, and they are uneasy I haven't started making breakfast yet. I'll whip dog dog over to the vets soon then the other two can eat.

I am always cold in the mornings so I bought a fleece onesie with Minnie mouse on. It is supremely shapeless, too wide and unflattering. (Mr BD didn't bat an eyelid when I put it on which makes me wonder what I usually look like :)) But it keeps me warm - although next time I will buy one with a higher collar - I've got a scarf on too. I don't usually get dressed in day clothes until about 11am so the onesie will provide some entertainment when I get parcel deliveries.......

lemonjelly our mortgage package included a free homebuyers survey but I paid for a local surveyor to do a survey for us. I wanted someone who had a local reputation to maintain and who knew the area well. As a result of survey I had the confidence to negotiate down the AP by £6k. As LIR may recall the survey we had on a wonderful property last year was worth every penny. The property turned out to be non standard construction - it went back on the market for nearly £100k less. We pulled out with great regret - the property was ideal.

SingleSue  to you from our little patch of Greater Herts - it's lovely and sunny here today, hope it is sunny for you too.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Long phrases can be good passwords as they are far harder to break than 6-8 random letters and numbers.

For example, MIL's old WiFi password was 99bottlesofbeeronthewall. That's a possible 50,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 combinations of uppercase, lower case and numbers even if you knew how many characters were in the password! You'll not crack that in a million years....literally!

I'm slightly gutted. My favourite asset management company has shut down: Bedlam Asset Management (tag line: Helping Investors Since 1288). They did an occasional series of newsletters called Pick of the Week. They are all here:

Here was a great explanation for why the GFC was about to happen/happening from 2007:

It is no coincidence that in every “hostess bar” there will be a disproportionate number of
bankers. This is not just because they have larger credit ceilings on their company cards, butbecause there is also a natural intellectual bond; bankers and call girls have always had very similar business models, which can lead to hours of stimulating debate. As both businesses share the same risks and rewards, discussing alternate strategies must also be valuable.
When Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he replied “because that’s where the
money is”, so bar girls are naturally attracted to bankers because even when fired, their
golden farewells are the equivalent to the GDP of a third world country. For it is the role of
bankers, and bar hostesses, to cosy up to those who can afford their services but do not needto pay for them, whilst disdaining the penniless wannabe.

They were very down on bank shares from about 2005.

You'd also have to go back in time by 3 years to before the time that she changed it.
