Must have made you feel as if you'd already necked a couple!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Stick around.
A few months ago under the influence of strong painkillers I was hallucinating and saw a dalek in our local coop. After a couple of stares it morphed into a cylindrical display stand full of wine bottles.
Cool!
Much better than thinking you're an integral character in every program on TV. I thought the plot outcomes depended on my sleeping position last week. We need a 'box of frogs' smily.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm sure you've understood right, but just in case - they don't mean the local govt/ is the house built on a mine/ flooding type surveys do they? That said, I'm sure if you're using a local solicitor (I didn't), I'm sure they'll have a pet surveyor.
From what I read, the main thing people said was that it was often a better idea not to use the bank's surveyor - means paying for two people to visit, but usually if the bank just have to schedule in a valuation it would often happen sooner, and you're not stuck with their panel surveyor if they are a bit rubbish (there are a few names which seem to crop up on the Mortages board).
I ended up picking mine via google. He was ok, there were perhaps a couple of things he should have mentioned (he couldn't really have missed them!).
I was pretty good at not packing in my head - but I didn't have that much stuff over here to move. And I am the same person who didn't tell many people about her new job in case it fell throughI generally take planning for the worst a little too far!
Second this, it is probably cheaper and better if you are going for a full survey to instruct your own surveyor rather than getting the lenders suveyor to do anyhting but the minimum.
When we last bought the quotes form the agents solictors and surveyors were considerably higher than the ones we normally use - I suspect some sort of kick-back agreement was in operation.
Where a buyer is in a very good proceedable position then anythting that the survey hightlights that was not obvoiius from a lay visist should be used to negotiate the final price.I think....0 -

I would have thought Daleks would more likely rust than compost.
Nothing personal to any NP but Herts elibrary is not the easieist to use with a Nook, following on from the failure of my C drive I had to reinstall everything on the temporary machine and despite having done it before it still seemed convluted, not helped by the fact that my brain no longer remembers anything and that the library has moved on to supporting tablets from supporting traditional ereaders so the old instructions for dummies seem to have gone or at the very least been well hidden.I think....0 -
Kak! Got nosey & thought I'd look at the new style forum. Now I appear to be unable to multi quote, & all my PMs appear to have gone.
How do I get back to the original and the best? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Now I have to beg...I posted on LJs thread about a week ago = no approval:( I have now posted on chewies thread and that needs approving too:(
As my PMs have disappeared, I can't even go there! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

You could have given it to the Mylegoffs as a housewarming present!
Speaking of.bins, I've just been out to squish some more bits of branches into the green bin ready for collection. I was passed by a surprising number of passing pedestrians and cyclists, many of whom looked slightly concerned. Perhaps it was because I'd tucked my joggers into my socks so they didn't drag along the wet pavement0 -

Sorry no, no and I live in Suffolk
Just browsing back a bit chewmylegoff we got a mortgage through FD last year. Was very useful being able to ring up and not have to go through a call centre and FD staff knowledgeable and helpful. The only hiccup was that they decided to 'review' the mortgage offer between exchange and completion. Goodness knows why but did manage to get it sorted in time.
Was on YouGov earlier and they had a survey about which countries should be able to join the EU - including Morocco, Kazakhstan and Israel. I am wondering if Europe has been redefined while I wasn't looking
Spent an hour on the phone to FD this evening which seemed to consist mostly of repeating everything that I put in the online application whilst reading out warnings from a script every 2 minutes - that's modern retail banking for you I suppose. I'm not too sure where we are now - they seemed to credit check us then agree that we could borrow, in theory, what we were asking for, then took the payment for the booking fee, but then said it wasn't an AIP... I am not convinced the person I spoke to knew what was going on to be honest but I suppose I will find out when they send the paperwork through...0 -

As I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, you're absolutely right to query/check everything Nikkster!:)
The solicitor sent me a leaflet which advised they can arrange surveys. No detail gone into.
I'd definitely want a full structural survey, for the peace of mind as much as anything.
I want to start packing, as I have very quickly got into feeling that I should be doing something to aid this process. As it is, I'm sitting here firing silly/obvious questions off to a series of nice people, who, because they are so nice display patience & understanding & help. How wonderful it is not to be judged.
I feel a bit out of control, in that I really don't know what I'm doing or supposed to be doing. I therefore feel like I'm doing nothing. Quite unusual for me as I'm not the impatient type usually but I'm sat here thinking I should be doing SOMETHING even though I have no idea what.
Boss aside (as I will need to take some time off) no-one at work knows, & close family only know at the mo. A few friends will be told next weekend, but it isn't going to be general knowledge.
I have a lot of cd's, books & records to pack...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
