Well, dog dog is home and we had a talk about supper and she indicated an interest in 'scrambley eggy', watched me cooking scrambled eggs with mild interest and then......refused to eat them. :). Very sighthoundish.

    Actually, it's very MIL-ish. Sigh.

We give the mutt some dry dog food that comes in a big plastic bag. The mutt seems to like it, judging by the way she licks her lips and checks the bowl to see if there's any more left.

When MIL stayed with us, she used to sit in the sitting room to get the afternoon sun. Unfortunately, DW did not want the mutt in the sitting room, whereas MIL wanted her dog with her and encouraged the mutt into the sitting room.

So, I was given the task of getting the mutt out again. This was an interesting exercise in animal behaviour. The mutt was totally torn between me telling her to get out and her wanting to stay with MIL. This created such a conflict that the poor beast started to tremble visibly. I decided to help her resolve her conflict, so I got a single piece of dog food out of the packet. Problem solved, as the mutt bounded out of the sitting room. Clearly, the prospect of a single piece of dry dog food is far preferable to sitting under the chair of the lady who fed and cared for the mutt for 10 years.

The broker did say to me at the end of the meeting that he'd never met anyone in the position I'm in!:o

In several areas of my life most people have never met anyone in the position I'm in. ;)

My number plates are for cars I had over 20 years ago, and I join them together, so you would need a hacker willing to go into the depths of the DVLAs legacy systems for cars that have been long scrapped to work it out.

Addresses of places that were important to you as a child but don't appear on any adult paperwork are useful too.
She's typically sight houndy, she can go on hunger stroke for a few days then decide to eat. Its very hard not to get caught up in it.

It won't kill her not to eat tonight, She can have scrambled egg in the morning, and if she is still hungry some 'dog porridge'. What she really wants is to sleep, and that seems pretty sensible to me. :)

Avatar dog wouldn't eat when anxious and stressed. He was very underweight when we got him, having barely eaten for the weeks that he was in the [STRIKE]prison[/STRIKE] rehoming centre. For the first year or so, he'd refuse to eat if we left him with somebody else to be looked after for the day because he was afraid we wouldn't come back for him, but he stopped bothering about it after he got used to the idea that he wasn't going to be abandoned again.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Having moved less than 10 miles Mr BD is of the view we have gone over to the dark side to a new LA in Central Suffolk (an area somewhat smaller and colder than central America) - he is especially miffed that this LA charges extra for a brown bin for garden waste.:D

Went to register at new GP surgery this morning. Came away with a brown envelope of forms to fill in. And they want photo ID - but only for setting up the facility to book appointments on-line - not for actually registering. Madness.

I use Last Pass for passwords https://lastpass.com/ it's free to download. There is one master password to remember - and it creates and remembers random passwords for web page logins. Wouldn't be without it. I do have a password book for the 'security questions' that banks seem to be so fond of though.

Any news for dog dog LIR?

Ah, we don't have to pay for the brown bin here...going by who I think your council is, you could be as little distance as a 20 minute drive away, right upto about a 45 minute drive away from me.

I've got the Essex border approx 3 miles away halfway across the river....and we are the end of the line on our road, you can't go any further otherwise you would be driving in the sea.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

My number plate was a 40th birthday present too.

How is this for thinking ahead. We bought a new car when regs were M and selected one with specific number and letters. We later put the number plate on retention. When our daughter had her 18th birthday she had a car as her present...with personal plates on it.

The plates are on her current car. Cheap to acquire, meaningless to anyone else. They make her smile.

Wow, you have literally just reminded me that I wanted a 14 plate for DS :)

I paid £8000 for mine, and have been offered £25k for it by someone with same initials (mine is 1 number, 3 letters)

It finishes off look of the car, and also is good investment IMO.

I use this phrase at work when encouraging someone to revise their approach/practice.

Mine, when I want to be slightly more disappointed than encouraging, is "It is really regrettable that you did ... "

Speaking of.bins, I've just been out to squish some more bits of branches into the green bin ready for collection. I was passed by a surprising number of passing pedestrians and cyclists, many of whom looked slightly concerned. Perhaps it was because I'd tucked my joggers into my socks so they didn't drag along the wet pavement :)

See, you're settling into being a homeowner really quickly :T

Feeling out of control is normal. I did. I'm sure Nikkster did. It's also normal to feel that you ought to know what you're doing but actually have no idea. I think practically everybody feels like that unless they've bought houses before.

In a year or two there will be some other person on this thread feeling all at sea buying their first house, and you will be posting helpful suggestions based on your experience of buying this one, and you won't judge them for their ignorance either. :)

Definitely normal - I was the same when I bought 4 years ago. Now an old hand on the HB&R forum :)

LJ, I'd certainly consider getting someone to pack you just before the move. They are soooooo efficient and means you're not living round / out of boxes for longer than you have to.

This has already been discussed! Small boxes, but lots of em!
I know someone who works at a large confectionery retailer ;) who should be able to acquire boxes. I'm hoping to get some this week, to get started. I'm dreading him making me wait til the weekend.

Last time we moved OH made me take most of my books to the charity shop :(
