LJ, I'd certainly consider getting someone to pack you just before the move. They are soooooo efficient and means you're not living round / out of boxes for longer than you have to.

Weirdly, I kind of want to do it myself!
The big stuff will go into a transit.
Alle the rest can be moved gradually. I'm moving from parents, so am fortunate in that I haven't gotta move everything on the day! :)
Last time we moved OH made me take most of my books to the charity shop :(

I saw a copy of that in a charity shop today.

I love my books. I did try to get rid of some. They made it to the garage but came in again. Books make a home, I think. They look and feel good.
Agreed. One of the bedrooms will be turned into a library/craft room. :)
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

That's what OH said - he said a lazy day was a "grow the baby in peace" day. He recommends more of them.

Why 14? Or would you rather not say?

The numbers are the best fit for letter replacements. I've checked and the one I want is available but too expensive for my liking at the moment. The price comes down as the plate gets older; it won't be selling for thousands.

I love mine. It says a name and allows me to anthropomorphisise (sp?!) my car. Box of frogs territory again.

Can you insure number plates for a sensible sum? If I had some plates worth £10k on my car I'd be too worried that someone would just rip them off the car that I would never be able to park the ruddy thing anywhere.

It's not the actual plates that are worth £10k or whatever, though, it's the right to use them, isn't it?

I'm sure I've bought the plate, which has been on several cars now.

The only issue with insurance is making sure that if the car is written off, you ask for the plate to be transferred onto a retention/new car, which makes me think to an extent, the plate belongs to the car it's on at any one time

We run the book stall at the village fete. This means that we have had some major clear outs over the years to contribute stock to the stall. We also usually buy quite a few form the stall.

Our house is just too small to have held 30 years of books.

My only real regret is having given away most of DDs childhood books.

The stall gets some popular 'collections' usually a clearance of books belonging to departed relatives/down sizers/movinging into care mostly male interests. Wood working, sailing, fishing, naval and miliatry.

We wonder what teh impact of ebooks will be on the stall in terms of both supply and demand (the board angle on the village fete economic prospects).
