This morning as OH walked the dog he met about another dozen dogs and their parties over there. He also picked up some rubbish to bring home & bin, two coffee cups. One felt like it still had some coffee in it so he opened it to chuck the liquid away.

A properly bagged up dog poo was inside. What goes through the mind of a couple who walk the dog in a forest, take coffees with them, plan to clear up after the dog and then litter the place?

It would have been more environmentally friendly to just let the dog go to the loo in one of the thickets.

I don't know how the coffee cups had been left, but it's possible they were intending to collect them later. The other day I was on a walk with a dog owning friend who had to pick up after the dog at the very beginning of the walk, right at the entrance to the wood. She bagged it and hid it in the hedge. We enjoyed our walk without having to carry the bag round with us, and then she picked it up from the hedge as we left the wood on the way home, then only having to carry it a short distance before reaching somewhere she could dispose of it appropriately.
    mortgage application submitted

Yay! Congratulations chewy and Mrs chewy. :T:beer:

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Found this article from the BBC. About aborigine gardening and how they used to keep areas cleared for hunting prior to the settlers. Suggests a rethink in terms of Australian flora that would also help fire prevention:

Interesting piece. The Aussies love a wilderness but perhaps it's time for a rethink, at least in more populous areas.

FWIW, I reckon there is no chance that the Yanks will fight in the Ukraine.

Wind's building up here. And I know it's time to take the dog for his evening constitutinal!

Yes, a dog with wind is not what you want hanging around the house

Intruders again last night. Nothing taken. Geese sounded a loud alarm, and by the time we got out there saw nothing, but found gates opened, including the one to the cake, which is a wretch of a gate, cannot just blow open, one has to really lift it.

Poor DH didn't sleep well for worrying.

    Sorry to hear about that.

Time to buy a shotgun perhaps? It's the traditional means for country dwellers to deter thieves. A couple of barrels discharged into the dark should see them gone for good and isn't going to hurt much even if you manage to hit them by some miracle.

I could just imagine lostinrates with a shotgun!

Not in the highest of spirits this morning. The house looks as bad as it had ever looked. I'd be wondering where to start if I were in tiptop condition but this morning I'm lost. I've trudged back upstairs.

The dogs are bothered about something and are being vocal about it.

I've received a piece if marketing from an accountant. In attempt to show me that they are not stereotypically boring accountants, they have sent me a 50 odd page book of accountancy jokes. This has done nothing to allay the stereotype for me.

Two Norwegian brothers discussing the implications for Cost Accounting: Ole and Sven went on a fishing trip tonCanada and caught only three fish.
Sven says, "the way I figgure it, Ole, each of them fish costs us 1000 Euros."
Ol says "Well at dat price, it's a good ting we didn't catch and more of 'em than we did."

Not only boring, but deluded, unfunny and a little bit racist.

    Cake = lake????

Really horrid having people just letting themselves in, and I'm pleased the geese saw them off.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I feel very sorry for DH, I would really struggle to be away from DW all week if I was worried that the house might be a target for intruders - could you put in some electronic protection?
    I think....
