Anyone who thinks that there's only one sort of beautiful or sexy has never lived in a red light district.
I have. Southampton 1979-1980. Denzil Avenue and Cranberry Avenue.
Red lights in windows, working girls on the corners and kerb crawlers. Oh and fabulous smelling small shops run by asian families.0 -

Comparison is rarely a whole picture view. For most of us its self defeating as we consider the bad stuff looking at others good stuff, for some people they are lucky enough to consider mainly their good stuff and forget their 'less good stuff' which while empowering for them has other drawbacks.
I strongly agree that comparison in that way is the route to misplaced dissatisfaction. Its terribly prevalent today, maybe that's why so many girls aspire to look exactly the same way instead of the many, many ways beautiful comes in, and we find it so easy that success in life doesn't come in a bag from a shop or even equate with more money than one knows what to do with. While those things might be lovely ( I wouldn't say no usually!) would one choose them over everything else one can imagine? I don't think so.lostinrates wrote: »I just find the identikit idea of beauty quite dispiriting.
Equally, what I find hilarious, is how so many young "individuals" who strive to highlight their individuality are all wearing the same identikit uniform.:rotfl:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I'm pretty sure today is turning point day. It feels more like a horrible sore throat than anything else now. I am fine drinking water, yoghurt earlier was manageable and I am out of bed!
Made it downstairs to the office which has been turned into a dumping ground during my absence. There is even some dirty washing up in here. We're having the existing kitchen fitted again, properly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm even more glad that I'm not purchasing right now. You guys really know how to make a girl feel conscious about the size of her mortgage! I'll be delighted if I make it to the end on my 5 year fix in one piece and in not too bad shape for finding something after that. Depending on if I need to take any career breaks (which I'm hoping I will at some point...), I might well need my full 30 year term. I guess I'd be bored if I didn't have to go to work...
At the moment, we're only paying the interest. We're saving our pennies for the time when I won't be earning at all, so this year so far we've not paid anything off the balance at all.chewmylegoff wrote: »Same here although OH does not seem to be on board with my budget of £200 for furniture and doing each others' haircuts to save money. My aim is to try to pay it all off in 10 years but I will need to get a new job if that is really going to happen.
I certainly wouldn't let OH near my hair with scissors!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

So glad you are feeling better.
Sorry you have surfaced to washing up and kitchen mayhem.0 -

I have cut my own, and dh's. its definitely better when a hair dresser does it......the bing Crosby cut I gave DH when we were watching an old movie was the worst, Even worse was that he was docking his head slightly so it was an awful hair cut AND crooked.0 -

I wear trousers, shirt & tie for work. I pretty much live in tshirts outside of work.
OH can do smart casual really well - he's got a gorgeous linen suit that looks fantastic, and having been born in the Mediterraean, can wear smart trousers and a shirt without looking uncomfortable.
My Dad, OTOH, can do dress code - lots of smart suits / cufflinks / ties, looks lovely in black tie, etc, but the rest of his clothes look like something a tramp turned down....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
