Yes. Big love to you, Generali, not so much to the part that is surplus to requirements. :o

Cheers. I have named the lump Leon for 3 reasons:

    1. It alliterates
    2. It's named after Leon Trotsky and I don't think much of either
    3. It'll get hit with an ice pick*

*actually a scalpel but ice pick continues the theme better

Goodbye Leon. Hello happy, healthy Gen.

That's how I hope tomorrow pans out.

    Good luck Gen.

That's good to hear Gen. I moved to Aus as part of the White Australia movement. Bearing in mind that the early other movers, such as Italians, Greeks and Lebanese were viewed as "darkies" when I lived there, I was really pleased when I went back to see how integration had changed that. I could see it in my own family... cousins born there and were real Aussies had intermarried with people with roots in other places. I was also amazed how much Australia had grown closer to Asia. But the Aboriginal issue seemed unaddressed. It is right that this is being challenged, better late than never.

To be fair, nobody else gives a whatsit. Aboriginals? Let 'em drink themselves to death. There's none round me.

Those working for the Government aren't so unequivocal as aboriginals get preferential promotions and recruitment. Many of those guys still have the 1950s hatreds.

It's disgusting really. The problem lies, IMHO, with trying to force Aboriginal Australians to adhere to an Anglo Saxon behaviour. Why the hell should they? We imposed land ownership and state imposed law and single site communities onto their systems, not the other way around. Always, previous to this Government at least, the solution to White fellas messing up Black communities has been to put more power into the hands of more white people in black areas.

    Ludicrous.

Don't berate yourself by comparing yourself to others.

This. It's a surefire way to misery.

Well my appointment is at 3.30am your time so please don't wait up. I have a working diagnosis (Warthin's Tumour) which won't change tomorrow.

All that's going to happen is the specialist will come to a decision about whether to chop it out. Given the consumer culture which is writ large in Aussie health care, I'll have a say in that and I say chop it out. I don't want to live with a dead Communist in my neck!

The reason communities work so well is its our combined merits that work to make one big good thing, our combined experiences and viewpoints that make a whole understanding.

Comparison is rarely a whole picture view. For most of us its self defeating as we consider the bad stuff looking at others good stuff, for some people they are lucky enough to consider mainly their good stuff and forget their 'less good stuff' which while empowering for them has other drawbacks. :D

I strongly agree that comparison in that way is the route to misplaced dissatisfaction. Its terribly prevalent today, maybe that's why so many girls aspire to look exactly the same way instead of the many, many ways beautiful comes in, and we find it so easy that success in life doesn't come in a bag from a shop or even equate with more money than one knows what to do with. While those things might be lovely ( I wouldn't say no usually!) would one choose them over everything else one can imagine? I don't think so.

Anyone who thinks that there's only one sort of beautiful or sexy has never lived in a red light district.

Tbf, I have never lived in a red light district.

    :D

I just find the identikit idea of beauty quite dispiriting.

Hang out around Rue St Denis in the 2e from about 4pm 'til midnight. You'll learn a lot about what men like in women.

The first thing I learnt was that I wasn't the only man who didn't lust after stick insects. IME there are as many beautiful women as there are women, pretty much. I saw some very unlikely prostitutes doing some very good business.
