Seconded. Should you be this ill for so long post op? Is it possible you have an infection and could do with some antibiotics?

Bless you. TMI alert for the squeamish :o

The consultant told me that I would be in pain (with emphasis) for two weeks. It is brutal in adults - they dissect and don't sew you up so I'm left with gaping holes. The one on the right looks tonsil sized now a lot of swelling has reduced but my left tonsil must have been the size of a golf ball :(

There is a tonsillectomy recovery website where some kind soul has gathered people's experiences of the days after surgery and what I'm experiencing is normal. The horrible thing is that the pain is worse now having moved from a non descript aching and pain on swelling is now a tightness and the sensation of having the back of my throat scraped with a razor blade on swallowing. I was doing really well eating and keeping hydrated but that changed on Sunday and I can't speak or eat now for the pain and even drinking water will make me cry if I haven't had a sip in a while. Without that website and shared experience of others, I think I'd have lost hope.

If there is infection, without stitches I will bleed profusely, so I guess there is no infection!

It does feel endless, but it was this or endless bouts of tonsilitis and being restricted in what I could do for fear of falling ill again. The price to pay for eventual freedom :)

I seem to recall that when my March Hare teddy removed my tonsils when I was small the surgeon who helped him said the good part was you could eat jelly and icecream afterwards.

Is jelly, icecream, yoghurt and soup sustainable for you? Small soft chew (small mouth movement) pasta, the kind one puts in soup, with pesto or a smooth tomato sauce?

    Veg juice?

You poor lamb. Your husband must be so worried, He worries about you when he's away so when you are in pain he must be beside himself. I hope he's taking good care of you!

When I was looking to remortgage about 6 months ago I think Yorkshire Building Society or their Chelsea brand offered the best on paper offsets. I was with first direct before, I did complain about their not having an offset cash isa and they said it was something they might look at in future, they currently pay 2% on their cash isa so a fair bit more less than their offset mortgage rates - this is probably why they don't offer an offset isa! If you can't offst the isa does offsetting definitely make financial sense, I thought it normally only works for the self employed who pay taxes in a lumpy manner, otherwise the lower rates on a straight repayment tend to 'win'?

It's not just the ISA - we have about a 50% deposit but would only put down what we have to as an official deposit in order to get the best rate - ie 35 or 40% and leave the rest in an offsetting account so we had access to the money if needs be. Would be cheaper to plough all that money into the mortgage but more flexible to have the cash available.

Offsetting a cash ISA is a bit of a waste or time, the benefit of an ISA is that you don't pay tax on the interest, but in an offset you won't get any interest.

You need some sort of pre-[STRIKE]nup[/STRIKE] mortgage agreement.

Is one way round to have a bigger deposit, a smaller mortgage from the outset, if that means your legal agreement protects the deposit? And then keep a smaller amount of rainy day money in a personal account?

The only reason to want to be able to offset an ISA is so that it remains inside the tax free wrapper for the future when the mortgage is paid off. If it comes down to it I'll just withdraw it from the ISA and shove it in an offsetting savings account but it would be nice to keep the tax wrapper if we can.

Fresh juiced veg might be a really good plan actually, get some genuine goodness in and not too acidic. I will put a request in with the kitchen :D

I managed a yoghurt this morning and yesterday. Sloppy macaroni cheese yesterday was a fail. Ice cream is too cold. I have asked for udon noodles this evening.

What I'd really like is gastropub fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce. And champagne. I can't wait! :j

Poor Doozer is a bit frazzled, doing everything :(

I would. Who has the most personal email addresses to start with? I'm guessing it might be you?
