She makes an exception for gynaecologists, though. She firmly believes that men only become gynae specialists because they dislike women. I remember her turning an interesting shade of purple when we were in Greece and a gynae doctor also on the holiday opined over dinner, "show me a teenage girl who says she has problem periods and I know the real issue; she had a problem mother."

This kind of attitude makes me so very cross.0 -
Weird weather part 753: we are currently having sunny hail. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Is it pretty?
I really want to see thunder snow.0 -
It was very pretty, almost like a film effect. As though it was sunny in my garden but someone was standing on the roof with a hail machine. Very odd.
I would like to see thunder snow too. I would imagine that would be dramatic rather than pretty. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Anyhoo. Starting to get a little worried by my first visit to the specialist on Thursday (it's Tuesday night my time).
I've not really had anything like this as an adult, I've been rather blessed with good physical health. I'm bothered that I might be accused of smoking. This benign tumour is associated with smoking. I'm a very ex-smoker.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the effects of smoking are wiped out after X number of years of being a non-smoker.
I'm sure it will be fine, but sending wishes your way in reserve,I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The kids are adult enough to encourage her to eat themselves. They also see things with rose tinted glasses. I remember when my grandmother was ill, telling my father and uncle that I would have her live with me if neither of them would take her in. She was really not well enough to be looked after by anyone other than a team of carers and I worked part time and had 2 young children and no spare room, so totally impractical.
I worry that taking someone home for their last days takes no account that there could be 100 days or 1000 days and moving someone out when the stress becomes too much is harder than not taking them in in the first place.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. When DH was travelling, I had some pretty dodgy nerve stuff going on round by back and lungs and I though I was going to kick the bucket then for a while because I copuldn't breath properly and it was getting a bit stressful and everything was getting a bit strained. It was an unusal place for me to get pain, lungy.....almost...hearty. So I was thinking, right....that's it,. I am sort of calmly fatalistic at times like that, :rotfl:
I'm glad I had the weather to distract me tbh, I was thinking, yes, its a good night :rotfl: Out with a bang :rotfl::rotfl:
I just kept posting and trying t relax in case it was my heart.

My interest in the deposit will be 'protected' insofar as that is possible with a legal agreement so it would be stupid to then bung all the offset money into a joint account. Plus I have quite a bit in a cash ISA that I would rather leave inside that wrapper for long term reasons although it appears only woolwich let you offset a cash ISA and their rates are poor.
The broker was pretty open about who he does and doesn't cover so he said that he didn't cover hsbc and first direct for instance so he seems to be reasonably trustworthy.
I think though that it is looking like first direct will be the best option so I may have to pull the plug on the broker. The only thing that worries me about FD is that they have a reputation for being fussy and slow. HSBC said they couldn't get me an appointment for 6 weeks although you can just subvert that and apply online.
Offsetting a cash ISA is a bit of a waste or time, the benefit of an ISA is that you don't pay tax on the interest, but in an offset you won't get any interest.
You need some sort of pre-[STRIKE]nup[/STRIKE] mortgage agreement.
Is one way round to have a bigger deposit, a smaller mortgage from the outset, if that means your legal agreement protects the deposit? And then keep a smaller amount of rainy day money in a personal account?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Please don't worry silver car, I'm indestructible...:).
Funnily enough you are saying EXACTLY what I have been saying for years.
Medicine is reactive though. One of the things that always makes me smile wryly is one of the things they have on my list of ailments is sciatica. I always used point out that sciatica is a symptom not an issue in its own right. I've been at it so long now I cannot be bothered to point this out anymore.
I cannot really explain without putting more detail about my I insides than I am comfortable with about why the causes aren't that easy to treat. But things that one medical depts would like to another one feel would be contraindicatory for them and vice versa. Some have always been particularly in knots with themselves, and then things that I feel would help me they have said in the past either I couldn't tolerate or now aren't pressing enough to consider. That's partly why I had the referral to the rheumalogist really last year to start YET again from the beginning with someone who had a 'whole of picture ' view. Treatment is very 'bitty' I agree.
I really feel this was less bad initially with a Private GP who was more focused on orchestrating things rather than signing them off to someone else/other people. They were particularly good gps though, and incredibly focused on health rather than the economics of health. Still, the system still is and it is. I cannot do that now, and I'm not particularly bothered to .0
