His reading's improved a lot, but I'm not sure he's up to reading Latin.
I came, I saw, I conquered should set him up for the day easily enough on its own.
And/or, as it's about books and not people..... then the words from the book (which is written in English). A quote from Julius Ceasar, the book.0 -

I'm sure that the Vikings in our local Festival don't wear modern boots! You get very used to seeing them walking round town at all times of the year, but especially in Feb Half Term every year!
That being said, according to the Vikings, the world ends tomorrow. The Viking Festival doesn't end until next week. I guess the current Vikings don't have a lot of faith in the accuracy of their ancestors' predictions ...0 -
Doozergirl wrote: »On the contrary, I'm sure it would. I have it good authority that Viking girls wore their mum's dress from All Saints, Ugg boots and a wide leather belts from Oasis.
Don't quote.
So you weren't willing to lend her your horned helmet then?I think....0 -
School website "dates for the diary" very sparse indeed - just has beginning and ends of term, and adult things like governors' meetings. However, there are copies of the letters sent out by the head recently, mentioning two mufti days (including one where they had to wear clothes of a particular colour, which we managed without any difficulty) but nothing about WBD. I think we have escaped for this year. (Why isn't there a brow-mopping "phew" smiley? I'm sure there used to be one on another forum I used to frequent. I wish it were available here.

But thanks again for the offers of help. For future reference, both of mine were autumn babies - DS in 2000 and DD in 2003. He's average height for his age and very skinny; she's quite tall for her age and, er, not skinny.
For further future reference I am happy to volunteer for driving up a s sorting out costumes in the future. I think it sounds fun.0 -
Do let them out for a wee before bed, and don't forget to furnish yourself with what ever you need to 'pick up' after them if they are walked in inhabited areas. Over provide for this as it is not pleasant and made worse by too few resources when needed.Viva.... you work in a library....I had you down as knowing everything...or almost as much as zag.
Well I know that nappy sacks are cheaper and more effective for picking up dogpoo than a string bag is. Must remember to pass on more of my copious dog knowledge especially as Gen has canine guests this weekend. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I've always found the best approach is to not have a dog. Works a treat!0 -

I tend to stick to knowing useless and irrelevant stuff that doesn't involve Komodo dragons or dinosaurs. I am moderately good at the Dewey decimal system and finding stuff though. Another curious side effect of working in a library is that you know who wrote most popular books, but haven't got a clue what they are about.
Zag undoubtedly knows more than me. When I've finished learning from Isaac, I'm going to stalk zag, kidnap him, and force him to join my pub quiz team.neverdespairgirl wrote: »I'm sure that one of my teachers would, at this point, say that a good education is knowing how and where to look things up. My greatest frustration is most people think they can use google but haven't the first idea how it, or boolean logic, work. Library 101: if you can't find something, you'll know a way, or a person who can. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? A wave of tired ness has hit me this evening like a bus.
My ankle is so puffy its the same size as my knee should be, but its ok because my knee on the same leg, with admirable dedication to the aesthetics of proportion has also ballooned. I've knocked my right foot at some point and the little toenail is all icky and bloody. I have a cold sore and grumpy skin.
DH says, 'o pretty girl, i think I'll do the hay tonight so you can lay there looking pretty'. I think, well......at least my dodgy eyes are more functional than his, rofl.0 -
That would be me. I loved doing these things even though I am creatively challenged.
Me too.
Though if either of lydia's children decide they want to be superted, I do have a costume (including a bear hat thing with ears and some bear paw mitts) that I made. It was one of the few things I requested custody of - after all it was handmade by MY hands!0
