See I would have done it with garden wire or, at a push if I found it some floristry wire. And my bare hands
It would be altogether less elegant than what you will produce!0 -
Oh help! I wonder if DD will have to dress up. I wish they wouldn't create these needless burdens for us parents. I am useless at that sort of thing.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
How scary. I now know that Komodo Lizards are not closely related to crocodiles and, possibly less plausibly, that Vikings did indeed shop at Oasis. It certainly looks the case to me.
What an informative day this has been.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

World book day is usually in the first week of March. It' every year so if your DDs school haven't done it thus far, then it's entirely possible they won't. We usually manage with what we already have in the house, topped off with something from a charity shop.
I think we still have the Pippi Longstocking dress from last year if you do need something. DD is a mid 2005 baby, like Isaac, but quite big.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It's early March some time. Ask DD to be specific, now, about what she wants, Lydia, and we'll all pitch in to help work something out?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Aww. You are very kind.
In the past, DD's school have sometimes done it and sometimes not. She is not always very reliable about giving me the letters she is given at school. I will have a look on the school website. There's usually some kind of list of important dates for the term - I will see if WBD features and report back shortly.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? School website "dates for the diary" very sparse indeed - just has beginning and ends of term, and adult things like governors' meetings. However, there are copies of the letters sent out by the head recently, mentioning two mufti days (including one where they had to wear clothes of a particular colour, which we managed without any difficulty) but nothing about WBD. I think we have escaped for this year. (Why isn't there a brow-mopping "phew" smiley? I'm sure there used to be one on another forum I used to frequent. I wish it were available here.
)
But thanks again for the offers of help.For future reference, both of mine were autumn babies - DS in 2000 and DD in 2003. He's average height for his age and very skinny; she's quite tall for her age and, er, not skinny.

If you to
http://www.worldbookday.com/resources/primary/
And go down the page there's a link to the 20 activities. From that you can link to the site with dress up ideas if needed.
In my library we had about 20 kids from Hogwarts through the door as essentially you just need school jumper, shorts, and a wand made out of a twig. There are other ideas of course, but please don't stress.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
