I walked the dog about 8.30 so he could do his business. It was crazy wild weather and the trees in the park were dancing like tom says so I was dreading it but when we got back it immediately got much, much worse. It sounds mad.
Our other relatives in a flooding town in Berkshire have got sandbags outside their door now and I thought they'd be in a safer area.:(There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I don't see it as a waste of money to have a good time out with friends.
No, me neither.
When you sit and think about money and why we keep it there are the bread and butter things....
Provision of food, shelter and planning for these basic needs in advance. After that....how we do it is all choice. Kids, dogs, houses , holidays, shopping, cars,etc......its only waste if you buy what you don't appreciate.
The things I miss most ATM is getting out and about more. My plans to increase that keep being stymied. Breaking bread with friends is, I think, a very natural, healthy and important social function. Particularly on a world where extended family is more remote.
If I had anything like that money I still couldn't fly to see gen but I'd bloody well fly him over to cook for me! :rotfl:
Edit...otoh.....I also agree its probably not just jealousy in all cases of distance. To put it just to that narrows the outlook of the friend.. If I were his friend I'd be wary of that line because it risks becoming a bit ....self damaging.0 -
Random thought: I bet this weather will show up as some shockers in Grand Designs later in the year/next year!0

Please try to stay indoors other than for cig-purposes, PN. Do not go out to look at the fences, roof tiles, car or whatever, until it's daylight. We NP all want you to stay safe.
Just been out for the last cig of the night; streetlights turn off at midnight.
To see outside is impossible for me except in daylight - then it's a trek. To the end of the drive, onto the pavement, round the corner, back down 100 yards, then I'm in a public car park without footpaths, that floods ... and is pitch dark too0 -
Now is not a good time to live on top of a hill. If I were in Battersea it would be a pig, but here it is the wheelie bins that are earning their wings. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Ben Nevis search have been looking for two hillwalkers, who went missing near the summit. Who on earth would think now was a great idea for that?
Milford on Sea 30 people trapped in a cafe - rocks from beach were thrown up and smashed the windows. Army are going in to save them, but it's dangerous because of the flying rocks. That's about 6 miles from me by bendy roads.0 -

She'll be flying on a heavy. If anything can take off in a storm they will. Most likely an A380 or 747. Problem is that the runways will be snarled by the little planes, which make up the bulk of Heathrows traffic. Winds should have dropped back a bit by then.

Heard a strange tapping/rattling noise. Wondered if something had got loose and was flapping in the wind. Went towards the door to go out into the conservatory and see if anything was visible... and realised the hamster has found a different way of biting the bars of her cage that sounds different from what I'm used to hearing. :rotfl:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Glad you said where Milford on Sea is Pastures... I assumed Wales, near Milford Haven. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
