Another train hit by a tree - in south east London. Mottingham station, Lewisham area.Tree fell onto the train window and smashed it.
Man next to the window being interviewed on the news right now. A girl was leaning against the window, but was OK, just shocked.

Glad you said where Milford on Sea is Pastures... I assumed Wales, near Milford Haven.
If you're standing there, looking out to sea, the IoW is just to your left and fully visible in its entirety. Almost swimmable (in your dreams)

Oh, hang on, news is now saying Milford on Haven!

Double checked the BBC website and it says:
    23:58:
Police say 30 people are trapped in a seafront cafe at Milford-on-Sea, Hampshire. Rocks thrown up from the beach have shattered windows and flooded the ground floor.

BBC South's David Fenton said he saw Army trucks going in to evacuate them. Coastguard and ambulance were also there. Eyewitnesses say the situation is very dangerous with flying rocks a hazard. An evacuation centre has been set up at nearby Lymington.
So it is here because of the mention of Lymington

What channel are you watching pastures? They just showed flooding on Sandbanks Road on Sky. Finished now, it was just a photo.

There's no point in trying to sleep, it's too noisy.

Not surprised; it floods there as a regular event. The road/land is about 1' above water level at high tide when it's quite flat.....

Where I was living on Sandbanks would have been completely swamped from both sides as it was right at the start. Sandbanks posher end ... goes uphill by a few feet over half a mile. Say 3-4' higher. If I'd not moved my car would have probably been swamped in the last week - although I could have parked in a side road 400 yards away that's up a hill, and the church up there's accommodating when they've not got a service, so would probably have been happy (in the circumstances) to extend a warmer arm for a week or so

If you get ready, I'll do a 2-3 minute "show you where I was" link that'll be deleted. Just gonna find it.

Edit: Google streetview http://goo.gl/maps/KA4rF - once it's loaded, spin round for the view. Sea view from the back as the beach was the other side.

That's odd, I've heard Google are going round again taking photos .... and my car's in the car park at the back of the building :) - footer of image says photos taken in July 2012

Heard a strange tapping/rattling noise. Wondered if something had got loose and was flapping in the wind. Went towards the door to go out into the conservatory and see if anything was visible... and realised the hamster has found a different way of biting the bars of her cage that sounds different from what I'm used to hearing. :rotfl:
LOL ... ah, that's the predictive gnawing sound to alert to dangers about to occur :)

It sounds terrible over there. Stay indoors and stay safe please.

I'm sober and it feels very unpleasant. It reminds me of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy when Arthur asks what's so unpleasant about being drunk.

"Ask a glass of water," is the reply

Now is not a good time to live on top of a hill. If I were in Battersea it would be a pig, but here it is the wheelie bins that are earning their wings.

I do live in the top of a hill. Buut there's not that many trees.;)

I've visited low-lying countries near here via work and it seems to me we're the only country whose government's so negligent that we let houses disappear under water or fall into the sea. What in the world are we wasting our taxes on?

What does our government thinks it's for?

True enough. The big boys are impressive in their capacity to tolerate weather. But I hated landing behind those guys.

Wake turbulence makes tomorrow's weather look tame.

And while terminal controllers like to say they maintain adequate separation for us little guys..... on a busy day, they issue the warning but make us expedite on final anyway.

And woe betide the Captain that refuses the clearance... You'll be punished by 30 mins in a racetrack orbit burning both fuel and your SLF's patience.

Anyway.... Glad I don't play that game any more.:o
