I was thinking that a little light flying might be fun to do with my spare time.
It so is.....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

My industry is all about very long days, 60-70 hours over what are usually 6 day weeks, on call 24/7/365, and 100 hour weeks if a deadline is due.
My industry is all about long hours in the UK. Not here though.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »And nowhere near the money that bankers make.
I'm not a banker any more, I moved over to the buy side (AKA asset management).
Lots of people do long hours at work. I see no need to do so.
I do get moaned at sometimes for not putting in quite enough. I'd rather be competent for 8 hours a day than an incompetent 'Richard' head for 10 hours a day like most of the people at work.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »Albury-Wodonga over to Rutherglen and Ecucha.
Not been but they are on the list. TBH it's hard to justify going that far when I can get similar bushland and towns in the Southern Highlands which are just a couple of hours drive away.
Try Jervis Bay next time you're over. It's about the closest coast to the ACT.
When the ACT was decided upon, they 'realised' they needed a port as every capital city needs a port. Jervis Bay, as a natural harbour, was picked.
Then the thought struck them. Why put another port a couple of hours south of one of the greatest natural harbours in the world which already has great connections to the ACT? Only a complete Arsenal would do such a thing. So now we have a very small National Park and a very beautiful beach which is a small part of the ACT in NSW. So I can drive south for 2.5 hours and go to the ACT-by-sea and smoke pot legally and, after putting out my joint, go into a supermarket to buy alcohol alongside the soft drink (for the uninitiated you can't buy booze in most Aussie supermarkets).

That's probably the problem then:
"Well, it's not as though I really can't afford it, because actually I could afford that kind of meal out if I really chose to, but I have other priorities at this stage. I might feel OK letting him pay for me if I had nothing and really couldn't pay, but I'd feel weird letting him pay for me if it's just that I'm choosing to prioritise other things. But at the same time, I really don't want to spend that much on a meal, so I think I'd better not go."
I could see how that could be the case.
I have been invited away for a weekend by an old friend. Last time he and I went away our household incomes were comparable. These days they are not. I have usually had a more frivolous attitude to money than he, this has made me think what will expectations be this time around. He has made his fortune and retired early 50s.0 -
I fell asleep despite the noise, because I could sleep on the edge of a post card. However the cat woke me up, and I cannot back to sleep because of the weather. I really thought it would have blown itself out by now.
No sounds of anything blowing about just the wind around and down the chimneys, the wind in the trees (we are on the edge of a forest) and the gusting.
It looks like we might be OK for travel though as a milk float has gone by.
I the last year we have had overhead pylons replaced on the common and trees cut back where overhead cables come up on telegraph poles. we have had the least power cuts we have ever had. I feel very sorry for many others (a neighbouring village has been flooded for weeks) but we have got away quite lightly. The electricity people have planned well for us. Neighbours told us that 'we' only got electricity in 1969 and it has always been patchy. Not anymore.0 -

I am a Klingon. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Hope everyone slept ok. Fell asleep with tv on here, did a bit of a job reducing the noise but not the greatest sleep.
First light soon, will be able to check what has happened out there. Hope the barn, and more importantly fir, are ok lir. Good luck to all the other NPs as they open their curtains and survey what's happening. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Generali wrote:Aussies hate Canberra but I love it. It's rather like The Barbican in London: everyone that doesn't live there hates it and those that do think it's amazing! If you have cause to revisit Canberra, Bungendore is well worth a visit. It's a really lovely bush town which isn't annoyingly difficult to get to. It has a couple of really good restaurants too and it sounds like it should be in Harry Potter!
This is what the bush there looks like:
Very nice.
The northern coast is lovely. So is the Southern coast. It's a lovely place all round really.
That would look like here. If here looked anything like that. What's that blue colour in the sky? How do they make that happen?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Same for me. Fell asleep with TV on, woke up to turn it off then had to listen to the wind. Fitful sleep worrying mixed with worrying about the weather noises.
I had a phone call yesterday, my tonsils are coming out on Tuesday. None of the professionals have made any bones about how painful it is likely to be.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I pretty much passed out, not sure if I ate something which didn't agree with me or if it was a bug but about 5 minutes after my last post, I became very ill, throwing up multiple times, horrendous tummy cramps etc. After about 3 hours of it and despite the racket going on outside, I was so exhausted, I bashed out.
I've had a quick look outside and from my windows, can't see any damage to my house or garden, in fact, our leaning tower of shed is still standing! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
