If you are going to buy a BTL, you need 25% deposit minimum. Food for thought?

    Or 100% of the price.

Makes it a much better investment that way.

Due to the tax laws in this country, that isn't true.

Interest on borrowing is an allowable deduction to bring down your income line.

Have just bought a grubbing mattock, on the theory that it'll allow me to dig out bramble root a little more easily than my current pick axe method.

    Hoping it will work.

I think we might try spraying this year if we get a dry enough spell. We've tried to avoid it but the beggars are simply too significant.

Can't really spray the area, since it's an ancient wildflower meadow with wild orchids, slow worms, adders and great crested newts all over the show.

    Hand tools, only.

Oh, what a nice problem to have!

Our restriction is that the area we want to spray is the banks of the lagoon, so it means getting lagoon empty EARLY in the season so as not to contaminate the water.

SC has already commented on this re tax.

I also saw a btl I would be interested in - it is above a shop so mortgage financing would be pretty tricky but the returns would be very attractive - however as the 'project' is in planning limbo at the moment we don't have the cash.

Hmm - getting the lagoon empty - given the current weather that seems a bit of a stretch...
