I had yet another bad night...but nothing to do with the weather as we were quite lucky overnight and it never really reached the heights it had in December (although it was enough to set off a car alarm at 2.30 this morning)
Don't know why I couldn't sleep, I just couldn't.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Can't say I personally like his politics but I have to say that Bob Crowe/the union seem to acheive a lot for their workers, treading that fine line between maximising pay and conditions and peeing the country off so much the law is changed. Obviously when Ken was in charge the rules of the game were configured to give the unions maximum leverage.I think....0

Oh dear.
Something has been picked up and bashed in to RP's pristine car into the wind, oddly, in the more protected side the wing mirror is off..
RP is not going to believe I haven't driven it and had a crunch.

The right to strike, or take industrial action is important, but the problem most people probably have with this is the total disregard often shown to other "workers" over the inevitable results of these actions.
Using other working people as pawns to help your workers achieve their goals is misguided, and an area where many union leaders start to sound hypocritical'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
The background is that they have been on the path, but hidden from the road by cars etc for a while. Since Sunday afternoon they have been very visible. Since Monday they have been on the edge of the drive just ready to be picked up.
It is bin day tomorrow, which raises the possibility of them going either because the bin men may tip off mates that they are there or because scrap searches may tour bin routes in the hope of pickings.
There is a time limit on this, if they don't shift then plumber is obliged to take them away.vivatifosi wrote: »Would we be allowed to have a no money, no payout, just for fun sweepstake on when they go? If so, I'm going for overnight Friday to Saturday.

Mildly amazed that the power is still on, and as far as I can see no damage done.
It's still very windy here, but blue sky and wondering if I should do some more washingI'm almost caught up with that...

It makes me happy they asked. :j. What a super corner of the world you live in silvercar.
And sadly it seems Bob Crowes powers are over-rated as there was nothing stopping me getting to work this morningI think....0 -

I'm shocked ours is still on too. No washing for me, the man is here to look at our pumps (phew)
More shocked sse are here to work. (Or rather , two from one van are working , two in the other van have been sititing in it drinking from a thermos for two hours. i'd like to say slackers, but actually, right now i think they are frankly, rather sensible.
weather is much worse than yesterday. Odd that they turned up at all I think. Never mind, I'm not going to complain! Its really shocking though, nasty, nasty hail like bullets.
Also amazed the plum tree we never get round to taken down before it falls is still up. We really must get to that.0 -
Inner Herts - need I say more. For example the weather this morning was presently fresh with an invigourating breeze, floods, gales, power cuts, travel disruption are for other parts of the country.

Oh dear, never mind.
One of the rail routes to sw is down, one of the motorways closed. Lots of the minor routes struggling. Although winds aren't as high, ontop of the winters worth of flooding this seems some how worse.
Meanwhile neighbours are away, so its their relief milder has to work round the electric people. One of two millers he can be a bit surly. But this morning when I went to chat to him he couldn't have been lovelier. Its taken a couple of years, but last summer he stopped to chat roses with me (loves roses and loves that i've planted some he drives by, said it cheers him up a lot ...goodness knows he needed it!...and was delighted when I offered him cuttings of any of mine he was interested in) and this morning he pulled up a chair for me to chat while he milked. I needed the chair , I almost fell over. I'm glad though, other relief miller is lovely, and my neighbours are lovely. Its always been a bit of a shame when he's been less lovely....
Just taken him a while to warm up I guess. Anyway, he couldn't have been nicer about the inconvenience. And thought it was hilarious when I said 'hello girls' as I always do going in, on previous occasions he's just looked unsettled by me addressing the cows.0
