Nikks, What is the room off the conservatory? Could it be a downstairs loo?

Our very nice plumber nearly finished off today, then I had to call him back as the boiler wouldn't light. Turns out it could be a valve sticking. As we have BG boiler insurance it makes sense to wait for them to come out and sort it. Annoying because my plumber would fit sort it tomorrow. :(

old radiators still on the path.

Would we be allowed to have a no money, no payout, just for fun sweepstake on when they go? If so, I'm going for overnight Friday to Saturday.

  • I'm currently thinking the kind of thoughts about Bob Crow and his Merry Gang which would, no doubt, get me chucked off any pretensions to NP status.

But anyone working out how to get across to Waterloo and back two days in a row during a tube strike might have similar thoughts, do you think? I've got quite a load of papers tomorrow, too.

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (but then, only a fool doesn't judge by appearances) and Bob Crow looks to me just like a man who would start a fight in a pub after a football match:

I'd want to knock the wall down between "kitchen/breakfast room" and "dining room"... Would make a lovely big space that you could play with. Guess I just like big rooms! ;) I hate having tiny spaces that constrain.
Living alone - and the fact that you can only occupy one chair at a time, having big, open spaces isn't all that great.... you just sit and think of the heating bill. I'd only knock those two rooms together to create one kitchen/living area - and then never go into the existing big room.....

It's nice to have a big room "in case", but most of the time they get cold quickly

To create my ideal layout .... that house ain't a good starting point.

What are they like? Is it worth me popping down? :D

The 'conservatory' isn't as grand as it sounds - the kitchen wall would have been the outside wall, and there is a proper floor in the 'conservatory', and a low wall which probably needs repairing. The glass/ wood top bit definitely needs repairing (rebuilding) - I'm hoping that will be a fair bit cheaper than building from scratch? That bit could be a very good call for a downstairs loo though :T

It's a bit narrow to get a table and chairs in. But plenty of room for a breakfast bar of some sort.
It'll be Nicky, eating Sugar Puffs in her Jim Jams most of the time. Then maybe Nicky and some random bloke.... just needs a smallish round table with drop leaves.

Or a breakfast bar of course.

I'd prefer to split that huge room in half, with some big, double, glass doors.... so you're only heating one end. One end and kitchen wall opened up to be a breakfast bar would be what I'd prefer - but that chimney's in the way.

Umm, planning stuff is a pain in caboodle... Our one is very difficult to access unless you know exactly what you're looking for. It just took me about 10 minutes to re-find the plans for our house! (roll eyes)

I don't think it's the same all round the country, so fingers crossed yours is easier to access and find stuff out from than ours!

I found the planning permission for a replacement garage when I was buying, so here must be one of the better ones I guess.

Not really with all the doors, I think.

I'm not really a breakfast bar person anyway (which is fortunate).

Am I the only Back to the Future fan?

Toy Story was good, but BTTF was the best ever

Nope, that was my choice too!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

He's apparently come back just in time to enjoy the strike.

In PR terms, though, I wonder why he thought a mega-expensive long-haul holiday just before a strike qualified as a Good Idea?

I don't think that pictures of himself in beachwear belong in my brain space.
