I'd want to knock the wall down between "kitchen/breakfast room" and "dining room"... Would make a lovely big space that you could play with. Guess I just like big rooms!I hate having tiny spaces that constrain. It's a bit like that in our utility room, but view from window down to the river helps a bit, plus it's only a utility room, not a room we live in.
Do you have any plans for changing stuff yet?
I'd hate not having a kitchen when we properly entertain. I make a mess.. And I like to shut the doors on it not have people look on in horror:o

You could remove the back of the bedroom cupboard and have a secret route from one to the other
Somehow it has been a carp evening - DKs had Gymnastics then an audition for Wizard of Oz then supposedly cubs, audition was scheduled for 5.30 to 6.30 so I got train to get to station at 6.35. DW finally picked me up from station at 8.10 - I could easily have walked or based home or DW could have picked me up and gone back but there was no organisation and no indication of how long it was going to take and we didn't want DD to miss her turn.
So then very late dinner, kids bathed, storied and put to bed and I still have to finish the washing up - and I needed an early night after two late onesA couple of emails I was supposed to do this evening will have to wait again, it is annoying not having full internet access at work as I could do things in lunch break otherwise.
At least I finally have all the internet/network working again.I think....0 -
Next door have apparently moved the wall (stealing some space out of the bedroom). I'm going to have to make sure I get invited to those neighbourhood homeowner parties... so I can nosey around everyone elses houses and get ideas
Just look at your local Planning Portal - all of their plans should be there, especially if they moved a (possibly load bearing?) wall. Our plans are up online, I imagine any that need planning are online.
But it's still fun to nosey and see how the planned stuff was decorated - colour, carpet, tiles, and so on. Plans and actuality are weirdly different!0 -

Not really. Need to start with the basics and go from there. And tame the mortgage a bit too. And collect ideas. And properly get m head around the fact that (within reason) I can do as I please as it is mine, not a landlord's.
There is a door from the kitchen to the dining room, it has been blocked off as the dining room was used as a 4th bedroom (classic student house). Looks like the doorway was just blocked off rather than properly bricked up etc so will be easy enough to put restore (once I have moved all of the crap which is clogging up the dining room with the door kept shut).
I'm with lir - I like to have a separate kitchen, so the mess can be kept separate.
Also, as PN mentions, will be easier to heat etc.
I think the kitchen is big enough, just need to think about the layout (esp when I put the other doorway back in). Now I have proper internet, I'm sure I'll bore you all plenty with pics(though I'm not sure that not having proper internet stopped me
).

They're very friendly too, when I first met them they said I should go round to see what their house is like
And they are very practical/ know which of the neighbours is a plumber, electrician etc
Good tip on the planning though - will def check it out.0 -

Nikks, What is the room off the conservatory? Could it be a downstairs loo?
Our very nice plumber nearly finished off today, then I had to call him back as the boiler wouldn't light. Turns out it could be a valve sticking. As we have BG boiler insurance it makes sense to wait for them to come out and sort it. Annoying because my plumber would fit sort it tomorrow.

Umm, planning stuff is a pain in caboodle... Our one is very difficult to access unless you know exactly what you're looking for. It just took me about 10 minutes to re-find the plans for our house! (roll eyes)
I don't think it's the same all round the country, so fingers crossed yours is easier to access and find stuff out from than ours!0 -

It's a bit narrow to get a table and chairs in. But plenty of room for a breakfast bar of some sort.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
