old radiators still on the path.
Round my way, they'd be gone within 30 minutes.
Couple of weeks ago I put 1 scrap metal item out front. Walked into the back garden to get the other half, carried it out to find the first bit already gone!
Tat vans tend to be around a lot here though...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Most trade unions that I have dealt with are mature and positive in their relationships with employers. This has been at individual case level, large employer level, regional and national level.
Consultation on job losses and change is the fine however changes to terms and conditions in my experience requires collective agreement for large scale employers - I have changed ts and c's for '000s of staff on an individual basis and it is usually better when it is collective. Individuals can be acquisitive, are focused on the here and now, often have no interest in equality (so long as it is not them being treated unfairly), may make great barrack room lawyers informed by the internet through the lens of their perspective .
Trade unions who are successful and relevant in a modern employment world take a view about the greatest good for the greatest number of their members , including considering the economy, and views of customers and taxpayers upon which their members immediate and long term employment prospects depend. They will also operate democratically and transparently.
I enjoy my job but would rather work for a smaller organisation, given a choice. I've never belonged to a union and they are not really something I'm interested in being involved in, even though I know our rep and she does a great job. At my council, we have employee representatives and I quite like that the council has sought opinions of non-unionised members. Unison is not a bad union IMO, just don't want to join it.
In terms of Crowe and Scargill, who I do take issue with for being at the more militant end of the spectrum; I fail to see what their victories are. I have no doubt that they have earned more money for their members, but if that speeds up the development of driverless train networks, then surely that is a pyrrhic victory. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I'll await your detailed response to the music I sent you.:D
(We can also mutually chuckle at the fact this thread will now explode given this public acknowledgement we've been PM-ing each other!!!!:D)
But when are you going to come to a NP meet up?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Given what you've said in the past about your lack of confidence with women, I don't imagine I'm the only one who's impressed that you haven't just been PMing Nikkster, but you've voluntarily mentioned it on the thread. While NP nuptials would be the ultimate NP meet up, anything that gets you out of your "not taking risks getting to know women" rut is good.

They will definitely get a chapter in 'NP - the Novel'
Oooh - there's an idea. What other chapters would there be? Definitely at least one about lir and fir's boiler woes, two for PN - one about websites and income generation and one about house hunting, one about michaels's planning sagas, one about Sue's struggles to get her boys' school to fulfil their obligations, a statistical one about mushroom opinions and Jewish partners, and something about lir and the poop covered chicken. Any further suggestions?Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
