DW gets back, on one account she gets paid interest in August for 'year to date'. Thus in theory most of the interest covers the previous tax year period and a little bit coves the current tax year of that makes sense. So I could complete thetax return as if it were all earned in the year it was paid or I coudl try to 'accrue' it over the two years.

Mental note, never agree if GDB suggests a game of Mornington Crescent :(
That's why I do it "late", so statements etc have all arrived.

Put the interest in the tax year that you get it. Accruels are messy.

PN, your bank should produce a statement each year of the interest earned and the tax paid, you shouldn't need to trawl through each statement.

This^^. It all opens in a new window for printing/ saving etc, so if you've blocked it then it won't show.

Sorry GDB2222 but that's not a route available since The Strand station closed back in the 50s.

I refer that back to The Umpire.

    Euston Square.

They do, but they are so indistinct as important, that they can be overlooked and lobbed into the pile of statements when the mail comes. Also, as I've moved things around to tidy up for property inspections, not to mention during 2012-2013 I had 8 addresses, 3 addresses I registered mail at and a redirection of all mail from one (which might/might not work) .... it's not surprising that 1-2 sheets are tricky to find.

I've tried having one box that's "You need that for the tax returns" and lobbing all bank letters/statements in there too - trouble is, when that box has to be hidden away/shoved out of sight for a property inspection (it starts in the middle of the floor) .... then, over time, things aren't as nicely organised as I'd like. Once tucked away, newly arriving mail gets put in a pile of "Oh ... need that for tax return, needs to go in the box - oh, no box .... I'll just put it down here for now then" ..... and another pile accumulates... then there's another property inspection and that pile gets grabbed and put "out of sight".

Not got any... I'm always downloading and popping things up.... other popups on the HMRC site were working when I clicked to see if stuff applied to me or not. It's just that one.

Just pressed submit in the end. I think you can go back and view past years anyway.

If I had a study/office, with a desk and a shelf and a filing cabinet ..... it'd all be in the right place, all sorted, labelled, organised and instantly to hand.

Thankfully we haven't had to Ouse any of our grit this year so we

I'm not sure what's in your grit. Is it salt? Does it melt (edit: er, become a saline solution in water)?

Not sure how to pay that tax. Previous years, after submission, it's taken me to pay. This time it's not.... and I am poking around trying to find the right place.... why did they change something so handy!!

And the paying bit is somewhere completely different, I googled for it and you don't log in at all to pay just put your utr as the reference...wierd huh?
    I think....

Yeah, I saw that ... and thought "no, must be easier" as I couldn't be 4rsed to go and find my utr number..... because it's annoying to be put out like this.

Edit: Just went to look if I've already registered with the billpay lot - and in my password software is my utr

Edit 2: Not sure I understand how/where to pay.... all looks odd/strange and I can't even, yet, find the bit where you actually pay.

Edit 3: I'm sure when I logged onto HMRC there was a link to pay money .... I'll log out, then log in and see if that leads somewhere I can understand
