You'll have been to the doctor long before then if there is I hope!0 -
Darned savings interest certificates are eluding me. They look like regular statements, so I'll have to go through all the statements again actually reading each sheet of paper to see what it is.
There really is paperwork overload once you've a bank account - when you've about 10 it's never ending.... with the statements, letters of rate changes, changes in terms, marketing mailings, etc etc etc ..... in my system if they say "barclays" I know it's from Barclays and don't sit and go through it all.... so it'l be with "all the stuff that is headed Barclays". I wish they'd send them out as little A5 postcards, looking like something different, so they were easy to spot/file without a second glance.0 -
Done it, just waiting to produce a PDF of it before I press the final buttons.
I'd earnt more than I thought in that year ... so did end up owing £400 tax in total. There was nothing on account already, so that was the total year's tax bill on earnings of just over £12k0 -

Next coffee is on you then. Before or after the doctor?

Smoke Alarms.
Why do they only do the intermittent beep at 02:37 in the morning ?
Curiously enough, you are probably right that they do tend to beep more in the wee hours, and for a good physical/chemical reason!
All chemical reactions such as the one taking place in your battery depend on temperature. Most people turn their central heating off at night. So, it's colder at night, and the battery voltage decreases slightly (or perhaps its internal resistance goes up, but I digress), and that's enough for the smoke alarm to sense a low battery and start beeping. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Are you supposed to acrue annnually paid interest or just put it all against the year in which it is received?
Did DWs back in April as she was owed several hundred, did mine in December and paid the 563 owing last week once I had the suitable credit card. After doing DWs found she had earned another 40 quid of interest over 2 accounts so that is a tenner we failed to claim back but it didn't seem worth investigating whether it was possible to resubmit.I think....0 -
Looking at the rain and our ditches, while I don't think we're in any danger of serious flooding I do think for and I might make some sand bags up tonight for the front door, Just in case. Seems to me we might risk a little water ingress. More a puddle than a flood. A puddle-êtte.0

What you should do is get a thick plastic sheet up against the door - sealing as much as possible by any means possible, then lay the sandbags on that. The sandbags will slow down water and help to filter out filth.... so a membrane behind them will give better protection against water actually entering.0
