Isn't this worthy of a posh alert? Even a tiny one? No?
10 bank accounts!
I need to get it down to just four accounts, but that's hard too
I'd have to work out which four, then work out how to close down what I've got and move it over... along with all that proof of ID cr4p etc ....0 -
It's pretty easy, really, just like shuttling money across from one of your bank accounts to another...
So one day it'll all be in ISAs. No idea how to get it out of there.
I need to have a tidy up so I can buy a house. Now tax return's behind me I should sort that out in February.0 -
Accounts active at the moment are:
Nationwide: Flexaccount and Savings
CoOp: Current account and Savings
Sainsburys: Savings
Barclays: Current account and savings and a fist of ISAs
First Direct: Savings
Halifax: Maybe, not sure
Principality: Maybe, not sure. Might be initial £1 to open it.
ING: Think I never quite got it open, but they do write to me
Santander: Think I started, but didn't complete, not sure.
Post Office: Think I've got one there, not much, maybe £1?0 -
That does sound like a nightmare.
Have you got a debit card for your Barclays account? If you do, you could put your money into Paypal, and then to wherever you want.
I'm afraid that if you withdraw money from the Barclays ISA's it's just likely to end up in your current account...“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Can't you just pay them using faster payments?http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/tools/bankaccounts/s/selfassessment.htm
You can and it is much easier this way. Exploring ways to pay direct from the hmrc websites, used to give you options like BillPay to pay direct, now it sends you round in circles, including telling you to use your bank to set up a payment.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Went for a 6th form college visit yesterday, youngest absolutely loved it there and they have said they follow the statements as closely as they can, which is a lot better than his current school who have said they can't promise anything. Only problem is that it is a 20 minute drive away and he would need transport....and that causes no end of other issues for him!
If he's under 18, local council might still have a responsibility.
Speak with their disability support team (they'll be called something like Additional Learning Support, or Inclusive Learning or something) as they may have some transport support in place for disabled students (we do).
Alternatively/in addition, there should be something called "learner support funds" that is given to the college to help learners with such costs. Ask the student services dept.
Finally, round here the local councils fund a 16-18 card for young people in education. See if your local transport company have a similar scheme.
PM me if you want, I can outline how our stuff works where I am.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
