I have lots of hair, but each one is very fine and slippery, so if I dyed it, or loaded it with stuff, or used a hairdrier, I couldn't have it very long, it would get too damaged. So I stick to washing every so often (once or twice a week, at most) and otherwise not messing with it. Works for me!
I have fine hair too, its less common for a curly though. I blow dry a few times a year. I no longer have lots of hair .but the curly conceals that well.
I use lots of product. My hair needs it! I do dye my hair, but dyes aren't what they used to be. They can be 'almost' nice for hair. My hair responds really well to them.
My hair is back to about elbow/waist length if I pull the curl out. Not sure its going to get any longer again. . I'm shedding as fast as it grows now,0 -
You have utterly glorious hair, it's beautiful. Mine's about the same lenght, but no curl to pull out! Just very fine and entirely straight.
Sister #1 has lovely curly hair, the same colour as mine, that she religiously straightens. Sister #2 is also the same colour, but wavy, half-way between the two of us....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Thanks NDG, I like your hair too.

No significant rain here, been quite mild all day but getting quite chilly now.
I'm the same as NDG, wash hair once or twice a week, no hairspray or mouse but I do use a hair dryer on occasion and dye my hair when I remember (did it this week as it happens, first time since last spring!)
The boys have their own shampoo although youngest is partial to nicking mine as it smells nice. Middle son can only use Tea tree shampoo, anything else and it really irritates his scalp and causes dandruff the size of cornflakes.
Re lumps and such like, two of my aunts died of breast cancer (one aged 36 the other early 40's), one aunt has been successfully treated for breast cancer, one uncle died of prostate cancer and another uncle has undergone successful treatment of it in the last two years (all on the maternal side). We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I've just used a John Lewis voucher from Christmas to buy some snake oil magic shampoo and conditioner, to make me feel less grumpy and cross, and having used it this evening, my hair does feel really nice.
OH took the p!ss, though, because of me falling for it.......
You're pregnant! There isn't a great deal a pregnant woman can buy to maje herself feel good. Spend as much as you like on shampoo.
I use cheap shampoo/conditioner but expensive hair oil after. Lasts for ages (unless you leave the lid off and spil it). The actual strands of my hair are fine, but there is a lot of it, so thick in that respect. It needs to be tamed, so oil helps a lot.
I did see something marketed the other day - snake venom oil or suchlike which did raise my eyebrow!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Do you always dye it the same colour, or change about as you fancy? What's your natural colour?Doozergirl wrote: »You're pregnant! There isn't a great deal a pregnant woman can buy to maje herself feel good. Spend as much as you like on shampoo.

I like your logic (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I have to wash my hair every day
Looks very lank and greasy if I don't.
“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
I couldn't do that - it takes about 3 hours to dry! I wouldn't want to get up at the crack of dawn regularly to wash it, or have it wet every night, either. I don't know if it's true, but my Granny always reckoned that the more you wash your hair, the more it needs washing?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

On the subject of shampoo, do the men here have their own shampoo or use shampoo belonging to women in the house?
I really don't like what we have in at the moment and it occurred to me that there isn't really any shampoo marketed at men who, whilst not obsessive about their hair, like it looking good and do care about it.
At my age, I'm just glad (a) I've got any hair and (b) it's still not all white. I moved from a place where the water was so universally soft nobody even mentioned hard water to an area where it was hard as nails. Had to use a shampoo where you had to take an oath on the bible you'd scrub under your fingernails or face a grisly death from semi-metal poisoning.
Still wash with a heavy-duty shampoo. Every day. Frightened to stop. Mind you if I did go bald would I need shampoo? Would it just take longer to wash my vertically expanding face?:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Maybe just less shampoo, and more soap?
OH just got back from his dinner, and is drinking postprandial camomile tea. He said my hair smells lovely, so he's in my good books (-:
He can't help calling it snake oil, though, but we all have our foibles.......much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
