Is Thornton Heath an okay area, or a bit rough?
It's Croydon = poo hole.
A typical mention of Thornton Heath in the news:

There are parts of Mogadishu that are safer than Thornton Heath.
My in-laws still live in Forn Neef
I have no idea why, as they don't fit in anymore and MIL is particularly uncomfortable, but FIL is stuck in his ways and although most of his contempories have either passed or moved away he still insists that he won't move.
It's one of the areas of London, and common to many other cities around the country that would scare the living daylights out of you average Daily Mail reader, but to others it's an exciting, eclectric mixture of so many cultures, sounds and experiences.
But, gang culture is also rife, so it can be a dangerous place too.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Not senseless, just pragmatic: "We are desperate for more space. We can't afford to move. Extending upwards is our only option. We must maximise the usable space in the conversion. We know it will look pig ugly and extremely strange, and that it will make the pair of semis lopsided, but our need for space is so desperate that we're going to do it anyway."
I think hip to gable conversions became permitted development about 3 years ago.
No brainer if you can't afford the higher amount and like the house/area you're in and can't face selling/buying/moving + fees.0 -

From the front that looks almost identical to our first house, except minus the paint and the outrageous price tag.:)

It's a horrible place. If you want to live there thn be my guest but I wouldn't. I used to live just up the road from there in Weat Norwood and it's a deeply unpleasant area: crime ridden and violent. Someone got beaten to death with a hammer while I lived there. Awful.0 -
Set in a 'river road' in Thames Ditton
Maybe not 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

But it has a potential building plotand a tasteful loft conversion would blend with the neighbour much better; if you can't beat em join em
Huge amounts of value to be added. I'd bite their arm offEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
