Thanks for the hug - needed that! I was supposed to be meeting up with some friends tomorrow but they bailed earlier in the week (with good reasons). Don't think that is helping - I could have done with seeing them... My weekends tend to be quite antisocial - I live on my own and don't have a very good social life (apart from on here) as none of my friends live very close by. Definitely something I need to work on.

I am looking at setting up a pub quiz team in the town beginning with H a few stops south on the train if you would like to join us. Only thing is it will be Tuesdays. Sorry, would pm you but my box is full.

I love pub quizzes. I've reasonable general knowledge but rubbish at sport and like most people who ate haggis tonight what I know about cricket I could write on my thumbnail without needing to use small print. :D

Ended up in a pub quiz team very close to where Wheezy lives when I worked around his way.

Has he moved? Seems like a while since he called in and he could advise Nikkster on the best beers I'm sure.

My social life isn't great atm either.

Was supposed to be going out tonight with some friends, but they were starting at their house and then are supposed to be going into town. Thing is they live on the opposite side of the city from me, and last time I went to their's it took me the best part of two hours to get there. So I said I'd meet them in town, but I've no idea (and I'm sure they don't) when they're going.

It'll take me ~45 mins to get there. Haven't heard anything, I texted earlier and they said they were still at the house.

If I set off now it'll be getting on for midnight by the time I meet them (if they even go!) so it's pointless really. I've got ready and everything! :(

It's part of a wider issue really that I don't get invited to much, as I say I live ages away from that group and can't just pop round to each others houses as people do. There is no one near here. So I miss out on a lot, and what I can do I normally try to make; even if it's a bit pointless going for an hour or two on one night it might lead to something else.

My life's never been like this really, I've always had a good group of good, reliable friends, where ever I've been.

If that H is on the road I'm using to get home now we've moved office, I'm sure I can manage it!

ETA: I have my car back!

Thanks to JLR Park Royal for doing it for free, even though my car (at 16 months old) has the sort of mileage that the DPF units fail at (about 86000)!!!

I'm sure they just want another order.......

Thanks viva :) Will definitely think about it - I love a pub quiz.

Sorry for the whinge. I really don't have a lot to complain about by anyones standards. Its just the culmination of a few things this week, and sometimes its difficult when you come home to an empty house and don't have anyone to vent to/ give you a hug!

I love pub quizzes too, but I usually feel compelled to apologise for that after admitting it!

That said, because of that my claim to fame is that I could, if needed, call as a phone a friend, someone who won a million pounds on Who Wants to be a Millionaire!

Don't tell me I've got it wrong... I was planning on eating haggis (not joking, I've got a couple of slices in the freezer waiting) tomorrow night?

Like music, always happy for beer suggestions :) Don't mind doing my own research either though ;) (tonight was a Leffe Triple)

That's a very good claim to fame! Do you live anywhere near Herts? For that matter do they? You'd make bloody good ringers... though being an NP would never do that sort of thing... goes of to look for whistling smiley.

My potential phone a friend ( a sport expert, although everybody looks like a bit of a sport expert compared with me) is the mate who was horrified to encounter a waxworks fo his boss in MadamTussauds (he'd worked for a serial killer, doesn't any more of course).

Nikks, you never whinge, even in the face of adversity. So I figure you have a few credits built up and you deserve to have a moan. I am not home at mo, and to compound things am away and in bed with flu.. but when I'm back will pm details.
