So, house £200k. I have £200k. LL can go higher .... they could go to £300k if they wanted to, maybe.... because they have more clout financially potentially. They might remortgage their house for a bit more to get the difference, they might have others/another they could remortgage if they wanted to.
While one LL overstretched and on the limit might walk away, many are first time LLs with stars in their eyes and lots of spare cash splashing around in their pockets.
Come on, no landlord or anyone else is going to pay 300k for a property on the market at 200k. What is the LHA?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. LHA - Local Housing Allowance AKA housing benefit for non-social housing....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Sorry. Was trying to be helpful, and failed....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Urgh. I really hate office politics. Its results time for performance reviews etc and it seems to bring out the worst in people. It all went over my head last year (or maybe it wasn't as bad?), but not this year. I don't think it will involve me personally (crosses fingers), but there is still enough to make me feel very sad.
I was supposed to be having a 'fasting' day today, and was also planning on paying a quick visit to the gym this evening. Instead I came home and headed across the road to the chippie. I am now full of what was sold as a small cod and chips (was plenty enough)- supplemented with some mushy peas and pickled onions that I already had in (and didn't want to pay three times as much for at the chippie).
I bought some nice Belgian beers this week too - ones I've not seen over here - so have cracked open one of those. I think I could happily move to Belgium just for the beer(I'm sure they still have office nonsense over there though).

The place in Gweek that I saw wasn't a mill I don't think - it was a house with a Dutch-style front, and access issues (no vehicle access, had to walk down some alleyways). Was bought by a chartered surveyor who worked for the local council and was attending the auction for something work related. He'd peeked through the windows of the house before the auction, but only decided to buy there and then. If I remember correctly (I was in a different time zone so it was quite early!), the house didn't reach the reserve price at auction and the surveyor bloke made an offer straight after the auction that was accepted.
It was just funny that it was in Gweek (somewhere I'd never heard of before) so soon after it came up on the thread!0 -

I'm so glad I'll never have to work again now :j (retired) though it was lab politics was my problem way back when... Before I became ill prob partly down to the stress of the ghastly lab worked in.
So I'm sending you some super big hugs and suggestion you have a restful and FUN weekend. Glad you're having some nice beer, sometimes it's necessary to skip Fast Days or anything healthy, just to have a break when life is difficult. Take things easy as you can, enjoy, and have a few more cyber hugs from me if you feel able to accept such from someone only known in Cyber Life. :grouphug:0 -

Edit - here it is, 5th one down. http://www.sealsanctuary.co.uk/pastg.html - she died in 2001. I found her on the beach in October 1997 at an isolated spot and called in the rspca. I had to be somewhere important, which was alongside a beach, so I'd got there an hour early and got out of the car for a walk and saw her.... so had her rescued.0 -

Ooh - a lab? I take it that means you're another NP scientist?
I don't know why (I'm old enough and experienced enough to know better) but it still surprises me how scientists can act like this. We're supposed to be rational and straightforward. No more rational and straightforward than anyone else though in reality.
It's times like this that I feel extra uncomfortable having responsibilities like a mortgage. I can't just tell The Man where to go any more(well I could, but it would be more complicated).
Thanks for the hug - needed that! I was supposed to be meeting up with some friends tomorrow but they bailed earlier in the week (with good reasons). Don't think that is helping - I could have done with seeing them... My weekends tend to be quite antisocial - I live on my own and don't have a very good social life (apart from on here) as none of my friends live very close by. Definitely something I need to work on.0
