I've got a black tie dinner at one of the Inns of Court next month - a Chambers do, being held in one of hte Inns, and a 3-line whip in Chambers.

Very few of my posh frocks will make it round me by then (I'll be just over 6 months pregnant) so I'm in jewellery design mode, to try to distract attention from the fact that I'm going to be stretching an evening dress far more than it was ever intended to stretch (-:

No way I'm spending silly money on either a maternity dress, or a bigger size dress, neither of which I'll get more wear out of. So stretch phase 8 dress and bling it'll have to be!

NDG - what size would be bigger than what you have?

Just saw Robert Preston on the news......

What's happened? He looks twenty years older, very thin. And kinda less geeky?
    His wife passed away...:(
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    <soothing stroke for Nik>

    Thanks NDG.

The nitty gritty will definitely pass, but I think it has shown the ugly side of a few people which probably always lurks.

I just don't understand why everyone can't just play nicely. Such is life.

I think I could do with the evenings hurrying up and getting lighter too.Though I did have a good 'coo' over a gorgeous little baby this morning. That helped a lot :)

Oh !!!!!!. I'll have to ask DH if 'we' knew this

He's a ex student of fil, (as in personal tutor rather than some one he lectured. he tends to keep close links with many of them )
  • Do you have a friend who is a size up and has a dress you can borrow?

Sadly, no. All my close friends are smaller or the same size, and my sisters are a size 8, so that definitely doesn't help!

    18.

Instead of just moaning about it, I decided to try the dress on, and at the moment it looks fine (OH says). I look obviously pregnant, but not ridiculous. And it's only a couple of weeks away, so he reckons it'll be fine. I'll still go for some extra bling, though, to be on the safe side!

It's a dress a bit like this - long, rather than knee-length, and not the same colour, but similar in terms of the tapework over an underdress:

I agree, it seems to have been dark and gloomy and raining forever. A bit of cold-and-sunny weather would at least help a bit, until the days lengthen some more!

I don't get why people waste their time and energy on office politics - but I think you have to try to let them get on with it, and not to allow it to get you down?

  • Have you found FIR yet, LIR?

Are your remaining chickens recovered from their horrible day?

Yes, I'll be leaving to get him in not too long. :).

The millefleurs won't go out unless I'm there ...I mean out of the house, they won't even potter in the run. They are very sensitive girls! So I spend twent mins first thing with them, which is al they'd do if the were broody. The other little brown hen ( millefleur cross silky) is totally fearless, flies around the garden like a pigeon.

Shame she won't lay. She's unhandleable, quite feral. I kind of a ire that in her. :o:D
