I'm impressed by DPD delivery.
I received an email: "Your Amazon order will be delivered today by Rosario, your DPD driver, between 14:57 and 15:57"
Then I go on their website, and I can see where Rosario is on the map. He's a few streets away, and it says:
"Rosario is currently making delivery number 123, you are delivery number 129.
Rosario is approximately 15 minutes away from you."
We'll see if he actually delivers, but it's looking good!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

You could waste an entire day just getting one Amazon parcel delivered (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

If I was receiving parcels on a regular basis, at my own home, with my own driveway etc.... I'd definitely look into those parcels received boxes you can get.
Although not this one at this price, which is about £200: http://www.parcelpod.com/0 -

Freeview, channel 19, Yesterday channel, just started. Julian Clary, Who Do You Think You Are.
Programme started with him digging out an old school project where he'd done a lot of his immediate tree years ago as a child.0 -
OH dug out something similar he did in his last year at primary school - letters from his grandparents, great-uncles and so forth, setting out what they knew about family history. I could read some of them, the ones in Hebrew were less helpful (-:
It's almost impossible for OH to trace via records - his family takes the "wandering Jew" stereotype to record levels. OH, his parents and grandparents (the 7 of them) were born in 7 different legal countries. OH was born in Israel, his Dad in the UK, his mother in the Palestinian mandate, and his grandparents in Russia, Poland, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and on a refugee boat between Eastern Europe and Palestine.
His grandmother had a surprising amount of knowledge from family records, and so forth - I was pointing out that a several times X grandfather, described by his Granny as a "learned, upright, honourable and devout man, who founded 3 Yeshiva schools for the study of the Torah and teaching of religion in Yiddish" was probably not a terribly cheerful sort of chap. OH thought much the same....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
The sky could make a poet weep its so beautiful this afternoon. Soft mauves wisping and whispering to the east and a quiet winter fire of a sunset burning widely in the west.....apricot, a cold blue tinged pink, and cold blue edges.
The temperature otoh made dog dog whine.....straight back in like a whippet in the snow.....suddenly a lot colder. The air this morning wasn't cold but the wind was, from the north and not biting but certainly having an over friendly nibble.0
