Yes both fine but a mix of tired, scared, upset and angry. We did everything right and Hoover our heaters before switching on, but the thermostat was broken and it was getting hotter and hotter without our realising. DH Is sitting up all night as we have been told to stay on fire watch. I honestly thought something should trip and wake us but it didn't. It is a very big lesson learned in terms of instincts. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Sounds horrible and I'm glad you're all safe viva.
Sounds horrid NDG.
Nothing good ever happens after 2am as they say here.
It's a glorious day here in paradise. 28C and sunny, just lovely. So how did I spend the afternoon? Putting shelves together. Marvelous.0 -

28C and sunny
Well, if it makes you feel any better, it's 2.8C and p1ssing with rain here.
So I spent the evening looking at houses online in your neck of the woods.

This is a nice bit of land. You'd get planning permission too:

Still awake, still a stressed mess. The burning smell took two hours to dissipate with the Windows open. I should ha e mentioned that the temp the device had risen to was 250 degs centigrade and that was in my living room, not contained in a heat proofed oven. It was only amatter of time before it went up. So please NPs, if you are ever in the same situation, call the fire brigade. We'd spent 20 minutes feeling walls, chasing the smell to work out its origin. They walked in with a special device and within 10 seconds had isolated the problem...about half an hour more to make safe... this may sound strange but it was so localised we didn't realise how hot it was getting.
On the off chance that any of them are reading this, Herts Fire Brigade we owe you a huge thanks. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I know you guys - and everybody else - find my fears and phobias giggleworthy, but this is the sort of thing that I live my life petrified about.vivatifosi wrote: »Still awake, still a stressed mess.
Now I've a new fear to add, as now I've got a specific component breakdown to add to the list of possibles
Glad you're OK Viva.... and that you weren't alone in the middle of the night dealing with it ... and that the nice big men in uniforms found the problem.
Big hugs ..... you have my EVERY sympathy over how this will affect every waking moment of your thoughts for years to come.0 -
Eeekk Viva! Sounds blooming scary. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Oh viva! How terrifying.0
