Big interstate trains are seen as luxuries over here, akin to a cruise.
Blade Runner is one of my favourite films. Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep is likely to be a big theme over the next decade IMHO. Have you read about the companies that are putting up private spy satellites? Fascinating stuff.
It's what the future might turn out to be; realistic if a bit gloomy. Off-world colonies soaking up all our efforts while the rest of us are scraping by in tenements surounded by a ruined ecosystem where we can't tolerate daylight or stop the rain.
My mate who teaches film points out the visuals could be Leicester Square on a wet Saturday night any year now.
There's not a thing wrong with the movie. Even the name of the chief antagonist. Roy Batty. ..:rotfl:
Love all the PKD books. Ever read Counter-Clock World?
A future where time goes backward. Books are erased in libraries, ambulances wait outside graveyards to return corpses to morgues, friends fix your black eye with their fists. Fantastic writing!:)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

I've never read any PKD. I've read a few Asamov books though.
I've just experienced a new definition of hot: you get in the car and the upholstered seats burn the back of your knees!0

I read something recently which said that all health care for 40+ year old patients was essentially palliative.
Not sure that's right, really - my mother's cancer last year, for example, was got rid of, not just the symptoms placated. And my Dad's just had a knee operation which has cleared gunk out.
I woke up a little while ago to be sick everywhere, and now I'm sulking....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Poor you. Mrs Generali got horrible morning sickness with number 2 Generalissimo. She used to have to get off the bus at the Elephant and Castle to puke. I can't say I blame her as it's hardly the nicest bit of Sarf Lunnen.0

I feel sick most of the time, and am actually sick rather too often. But waking up and then being sick everywhere is the least pleasant option, really. Still, it was worse when I was pregnant with Isaac, I ended up on a drip several times, then. Not had to do that yet with this one....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I'm sorry I missed you mystic_trev. Mrs Generali hasn't been well and that's taken up a lot of my time. Perhaps we can meet up when I return to the UK in December.
No problem, family comes first and I hope she makes a speedy recovery. As you can tell, I'm suffering from a bit of Jet-lag. The bloody Cricket was a total disaster, at least Ticketek have made a speedy refund for our fourth day tickets!0

I'm amazed there's no Aus equivalent of the US Florida - Virginia 800 mile motorail/autotrain. A monster of a train by all accounts
 http://www.amtrak.com/auto-train.
I take comfort from the life of Run Run Shaw, copperfield of one of my fave movies, Blade Runner. Just passed away at 106.
It definitely is a monster train, I've been stopped by it at crossing. Took a very long time to pass if it is the one I'm thinking of, it stopped in Winter Park before going south. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I am up at 3am because I've just had to dial 999 and get fire brigade out they used their infra red equip to work out that our heater in the living room was faulty. Thankfully they got to it before it spread fire, but the scary thing was that the smoke detectors and circuit breakers didn't trip, we were just woken by the smell of electrical burning. The reading it was giving off was hotter than an oven. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sounds terrifying, Viva! Hope you're OK....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
