I spent a lot of my afternoon in a certain supermarket (both parents are supermarket monkeys, it's traditional on our house to go bargain hunting and I am 49% tight after all). Things reduced in every dept other than bakery. All the fresh bread had best before dates of today or tomorrow. Disgusting that it will most likely all go to waste (there was a lot).0

I think my parents are working up to making our house that house... Will try and get a pics tomorrow (have already popped to the garage in my obedient tonight, not doing it again
) It'll take a few years, but another illuminated Dec was purchased this eve... As well as our traditional yellow sticker turkey for next year (£84 :eek: down to £21. Wonder if that beat Michaels?
)
I scored a complete fail - I was last to leave the office at 3 (the boss who was working from home sent an email at 3 saying anyone still in could go so I was able to reply that I was last and on my way out the door then slow train home as the line is still not fully fixed and then a choice Sains or Tesco as it was too late for both - we chose Sains as I knew they would have a better choice of the must haves although like last year they did not reduce any of the 50 odd birds left - I believe they go to the staff as a freebie and any left go for christmas 'soup kitchens'. Then again last year we bought a reduced turkey and when we came to eat it DW was very underwhelmed as she just hates turkey so no point looking for a cheap one really, duck or goose would have done but not to be this year.merry christmas all!

Well, let's hope it's being given away to one of the charities doing free Christmas food for homeless people or something.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Wrapping done - just waiting for kids to fall asleep so Santa can do his roundsI think....0

That's one of the things I admired about America- they had a food distribution system called Second Harvest that sold massively discounted food at the close of day to needy locals (in some places they passed it to local food kitchens etc. to make sure it all got consumed). I'm a big fan of that as I can't stand the idea of waste, expecially something as precious and vital as food.
The Ausies have a great charity organisation called the Smith Family; another smart organisation we could do with importing (Gen will know more about them).
Funny how globalisation means we get to take on the wrong ideas from the countries we could imitate. Such as their bad spelling.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
