The sort of launderette that will launder a duvet for £10 won't have an online presence!

I have just done a Tesco shop, timed to get there just as the store opened (midnight) after the Sunday trading laws. It is as I imagine a 3rd world supermarket would be, aisles blocked with cages of goods waiting to be shelved.

No, but you'd hope they'd be in yell or the telephone directory, which is what I was looking at, and there were listed services offered. :). The third, which offered service washes does have a basic web presence. There are two closer, so I'll check them out. ' after the madness' :)

I went to Tesco yesterday and was not impressed. Amongst my shopping was a Christmas cake. When I got it home I noticed that the date had expired.

    1. What was Tesco doing selling goods that had expired?
    2. Why sell Chrismas cake that expires before Chrismas?

I phoned them up to say an item that I bought had expired and they couldn't even be bothered to take the details so that nobody else found themselves in the same situation. Customer service fail.

That's funny, I was at tesco last week and found loads of prawns pat sell by date  I started to gather them up and take them to adjacent fish counter but there were too many and the fish counter people were saying it wasn't there remit. . Who cares whose remit is, could make some one very seriously unwell.:mad::mad:

Again, surely a good thing to get out of Norwich as quickly as possible?

Hehe, the boys love Norwich...unusual for them all to agree and more especially, for them to actually like somewhere.

    I just go with it.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I hope you took a self scan and scanned everything in the electronics section - there are isolated mega-bargains around according to hotukdeals although nothing in Hatfield where I am pretty sure the staff are extremely saavy and probably monitor hukd.

We did Sains at 5.30 on Saturday which seemed to be less busy than a normal Saturday afternoon :) Dropped in at Tesco yesterday morning which again was no too bad except for the checkouts but we did self scan. Only problem was in Tesco with a 12 off 80 voucher we buy something expensive in electronics and then try and buy more than 12 of bits and pieces and there is so little that I find attractive there that spending the 12 is a problem :(

Lets hope the trains are running today for those of us who have to work.

Don't they ever spot the voucher on the return?

Our tesco doesn't have self scan :(

PN - take the delivery screen protector off and fit a proper one - did one come in the box? If not they are pennies on eBay.

At Viva's tesco you return electricals to the main CS desk and they spot the vouchers, at ours you return them to the electricals desk and they don't care. I didn't know they don't have self scan at the big tescos in W.

Looks like I will be keeping an eye on the FCC website today to see if I will get home - if they aren't running tomorrow morning that would be ideal, I can then go to the St Albans office and twiddle my thumbs for a few hours and nip out and get a few stocking fillers :)
    I think....

Every haircut seems to lop off more and more white than brown hairs, although at my age, I'm relatively happy to have much hair at all, let alone worrying about the loss of colour.:o

Got my hair cut on Saturday. Did my Santa impression yesterday, and my sister shrieked when she saw how short it was. This was not my choice, but there is very little you can do once they have started. Oh well, hair does grow I suppose. Won't be getting it cut again for at least a year.

My favourite Christmas hymn would have to be 'Oh come, oh come, emmanuel'.

I used to be in the choir at school - C of E and sang descant. Loved that time of year, all the pomp and ceremony involved in hymns at Christmas.

Merry Christmas GDB. Enjoy your travels.

Wondering who's got the most first cousins of any NP. I've 38 at the last count.;)

I had 16 full first cousins, and 4 half first cousins (the children of my mum's half sister), although one of the half ones died a year or two ago. My kids have 5 first cousins.
What is my cousin's husband to me? Nothing, or once removed?

You could call them cousins by marriage, I think.

The removed thing is used to describe people who aren't the same generation. Your first cousins once removed are either the children of your first cousins, or else your parents' first cousins. I have lots and lots of those. My cousins between them have 39 children, I think, and I've no idea how many cousins my parents had, but loads and loads of them.

I don't pop on here often enough, but I wanted to wish everyone all the best.

It's a funny place, this debate forum. I can find myself quite easily disagreeing with people like Hamish or LM on many things; yet I quite enjoy and admire their tenacity and consistency.

This Xmas sees the Kabayiris with a parent who I thought wouldn't make it to this stage because of Cancer. But then, dealing with Cancer is a set of battles, and you aim to win every single one. I'm proud to say my parent has done just that.

The best present I could possibly hope for is a special Xmas meal today with my parent sat there.

For anyone out there facing similar or different challenges, I genuinely wish you the best of luck.

    :)

Glad to hear your parent is doing so well. Hope you have a lovely time together over Christmas.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I do as much of my shopping in late hours as possible to skip queues, but once the queues are thinning the aisle-blocking starts to accelerate as the staff deploy from tills to stacking. Can't really seem to win at shopping!

Doing a late night asda tonight similarly hoping to avoid silly queues.

Pleasant weekend with a friend visiting from south wales. Worried for their journey back today though!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
