  • That was the sole reason I travelled today, the wild storm that's barrelling in from the Atlantic, especially as I was headed into the Atlantic.

    Into the Atlantic?!

glad you are safely in the right place.

Can't remember what tog our duvet is - the winter ones at my parents' house are 13 tog, though, and don't feel too hot in the winter. But it's a very old house, and hard to heat, and anyway my mother's[STRIKE] mean about the heating [/STRIKE]careful with the heating.

I'm dithering about the weather too, Sue - well, I'd like to go to Kent tomorrow, as I'm packed, ready, etc, but OH is worried about the weather, and so is my Dad. So I'll wait and see.

Whereas I'm just worried they will use it as an excuse for screwing up the trains at commute home time tomorrow - it used to be that the Thameslink King's Cross tunnel flooded with heavy rain- I have spent a very unpleasant 3 hours stuck on a packed train after than happened during a summer thunderstorm downpour.
    I think....

I think if you go early, you should be ok...or at least you will be better off than if you left it until after lunch, might still be a bit eek at times with the wind building up though.

The really bad stuff isn't due to hit us (on this side of the country) until the evening and they are warning that the trains will be on a go slow from 6pm onwards in our area. So we will be leaving earlier tomorrow morning and taking the 5pm train back.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • Sadly, we can't go early, otherwise I would - the car's at hte garage, and I can't collect it until 11.30am.

  • Hurricane force winds, torrential rain, turning to disruptive blizzards over the hills.

More or less completely normal weather for Scotland in winter. :)

You'd think English people had never seen a storm before.... ;)

Ah for me, it's the thought of the beggers cancelling the train and being stranded in Norwich rather than the actual storm!

I used to like to go to Norwich Xmas shopping.... the outdoor market and the hot chestnut sellers were what I was mostly interested in.
  • I like Norwich - we used to go there once a month or so when I was a small child, to stay with my godmother, her husband and their 3 children. I've also spent several holidays there staying with them, starting with waiting-for-GCSE-results week when I was 16, and a couple of times with OH, too.

My godparents lived on Princes Street for the last 15 years or so - my godmother was widowed last year, and has moved a bit further out (which is why I feel safe to mention the road!)

Just got back from a curry restaurant that NDG likes. Had their set menu. Popadums and pickles, masala dosa, mixed bajiahs, lamb chicken veg and lentil curries with rice and naan £15 per head.:D

And managed to find a seat in a crowded pub.

DD's back with us for the hols, just realised the house will be fully occupied for once and the fridge/freezer/cupboards are going to empty faster.
