Incidentally, be careful when searching for ebid, always use ebid. net or ebid.co. uk as www.ebid.com is NOT the ebid that is being discussed here. If you do go to the wrong one and click on 'UK auction' you get a link to ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It is posisble to do a completed search on ebid as it is on ebay, and those completed searches are quite interesting and worth doing before you list anything. (I would also suggest doing that on ebay as well).
OK I'll try when I've got time to look, I thought I had read you could not do that on ebid, but I must have imagined it.0 -

It isn't obvious and I had to get someone to show me how to do it. Basically though do a general search for say 'necklace' . Then above the first item you get an option for 'more search options' click that and it opens a further box where you can opt to search 'closed'.
Using that basic 'necklace' search and seeing 75 items per page there was not a successful sale until half way down page 2.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have a quick look myself under my categories, and found a sellers who lists the same time of items I do, same brand, and they have not had a sale in over a year, althought their prices are average.
If you care to show evidence that there are sellers making a lot of money (no names, perhaps an indication of a particular item/brand selling really well?) maybe people here will change their mind.
I will not produce any "evidence" of sales but I can say that sales in the coins and bullion sections of eBid are pretty active. Common to see bidding wars going on in these categories.0 -

Basic search term of 'coin' in the coin and banknote section and again using 75 items per page of closed items. There is one sale on the first page but three sales on page 2.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. "coin" "coins" probably too general. Silver coins (MSD, mercury dimes, asian silver coins, uk silver coins, etc.) tend to draw more attention, particularly if start bid is low. More seller's are becoming bold enough on eBid to risk low start bid.0 -

I also find completed listings useful as a seller. Frankly whatever site I use I do not want to waste time listing something that has no market, so if I can see there is a history of no sales I just charity shop it.
I used to sell books mainly on Amazon and would buy in bulk. Out of each 200 I bought I might actually list as few as 20, and then charity shop the rest as selling something and merely covering cost was not a model I was interested in. I do exactly the same on ebay and ebid and list stuff that sells and either car boot or charity shop the rest. It keeps my turnover of stock good and increases my sell through rate and therefore my profits.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I find different items do better on different sites. Sell coins & collectibles mainly. Ebay seems to be the best venue for coins. Am working on a system to try & make a profit with coins. Ebay does not make it easy, because the profit margin is slim anyway in comparison to other products. If I could perfect a way to sell coins profitably on eBid, would rather sell them there. Just makes sense.0 -

Absolutely , there were books I had listed on Amazon that I would not have even bothered to put anywhere near ebay as for certain books ebay was not the natural venue for them.
