Recently opened an ebid shop...lets see how long it takes to get a sale.

the user name you are using here is indeed reg on ebid and from the midlands however its only a buyers account and has been there for years so no shop either so it might very well take a long time to get a sale !

scotch you keep looking for people's accounts on ebid and 'outing' them here, it's really inappropriate and against the spirit of this board!
Only very stupid people would use their selling id to post here. And your behaviour confirms why it's such a bad idea.
You and the many 'new' posters here are a very bad publicity for the very site you are trying to promote.

My eBid account is a seller account, it's under this name which is my usual internet handle so you can check out how long it's been registered and how much I've bought. I haven't sold there at all and don't plan to. I hardly buy there because there's nothing to buy - I do check every so often but can usually find what I want on Amazon or eBay.

After ten years+ of operation, eBid somehow has to deal with. After browsing through PPPay's rules and regs, I have to say I would never use them as a buyer; they don't have any dispute process, which is important for encouraging people to use them as buyers.

Even if they claim sellers are moving there because of high eBay fees (or whatever), the reality is that since there is virtually no promotion (and buyers won't be searching for "eBay alternatives", they're searching for what they want to buy), there's virtually no ability to drive traffic. The competition to eBay is not coming from eBid - it's coming from sites which recognise they have to have a moderately good income, a Unique Selling Point such as a specific niche interest - Delcampe do VERY well in the postcard market for instance, a way of controlling their sellers to encourage buyers and so on. Unfortunately, until eBid does the same, it's never going to seriously rival eBay as a buyer-friendly, well-promoted site.

If you pay via Paypal you have the same protection as on ebay or anywhere else.

No more than you would expect, the fact that they have to use "Ebay" in search terms doesn't say much for their profile.

I agree, and I mostly do when paying on eBid, but I still think it's a bit rum that they're promoting a method of payment which doesn't give the full scope of buyer protection.

i guess there a very stupid person then the account i searched from here on ebid does use the same user name and there from the same area i have no doubt there one and the same person if i wish to check the validity of what there saying on a open forum and either confirm or deny what there saying i shall do so thats what this web site is about is it not! or do you think some one who misleads these forums should be allowed to get away with it unchallenged because thats what your emplying

if i was trying to promote ebid then i would be talking about ebid in its a role as a e-commerce web site i have yet to touch on that subject, what i have talked about is two members from this site who have made statements witch in both cases are untrue and whats more any one else can check them out to see what they are saying is true or not so the only bad publicity that has become apparant is for the two members of this site,

I haven't seen anyone substantiate their cliams that there are sellers out there making lots of sales on ebid. I have a quick look myself under my categories, and found a sellers who lists the same time of items I do, same brand, and they have not had a sale in over a year, althought their prices are average.

If you care to show evidence that there are sellers making a lot of money (no names, perhaps an indication of a particular item/brand selling really well?) maybe people here will change their mind.

It is posisble to do a completed search on ebid as it is on ebay, and those completed searches are quite interesting and worth doing before you list anything. (I would also suggest doing that on ebay as well).
