Truepat Apparently you and most other people are missing the point that my biggest issues were 1) the way the bell was rung. If you must ring the bell at that time, why not ring it once, why ring it repeatedly?
    2) how the parcel was just left on the doorstep and the driver had driven off before even checking if anyone was home.

No, I don't have anything better to whine about. It's a board called Praise, VENTS, and warnings. If you don't like it, pop off over to another board.

swingaloo round here it's NOT normal. The only callers I ever have after about 6pm, I know are coming.
My friends don't have to give notice if they're coming round at a reasonable hour, but they do know to double check when to come round after 6pm due to kids bath/bedtimes (my sons are 3 and 2), dinner time (my husband and I eat later on due to him still being at work when the kids eat dinner) and if I have any other plans.
I'd be a bit irked if someone popped over at 8pm and expected to come in as I'd usually be cooking dinner, having some time with my husband and going to bed around 10.
Perhaps I'm alone on here in wanting my "me" time after the kids are in bed, but all of my friends with children are very much the same.
Other than the driver yesterday, I've not had anyone else ring my bell after dark without me expecting them.
Even on halloween, all of the children round here were finished by about 7.
Nobody will knock on my door after 7:30pm asking for my children to play out because they're 2 and 3, and I'm not irresponsible enough to let kids that age run the streets.

im-lost if I'm aware a courier will be delivering up until a certain time, and I'm expecting a parcel, I have no issue. I'm fully aware that when ordering from somewhere that uses YODEL as their courier, then I can expect my parcel any time up until 9pm, and I'll keep an eye out.
Also, most couriers ring the bell once, not 10 times in quick succession.

When I order something to be delivered by RM, I expect it to be delivered fairly close to the "latest delivery time" they advertise, which is 3pm. 4.5 hours after that is a bit of a joke.

They advertise a latest delivery time?
Do you mean the aim for time to deliver mail?
Once more, its an office with an issue
staff are out at at 7.30pm at night(you realise they are likely at over 12 hours working at that point?)
What would happen if Yodel et al came to your door with a neighbours packet?
You are never going to change your mind, neither are others
    so complain to RM
However once more we see the reaction to change from RM.
nobody minds change till it affects them.

I deal with people from all over the world who have real genuine issues in relation to feeding themselves, finding shelter, living in hurricane zones, earthquake zones etc. etc. - people that often have real problems .......

.... and then I come onto this board for what is generally a bit of light relief and get a laugh at people making mountains out of molehills - people whining about the most trivial of issues turning them into major incidents. I also try to inject a dose of reality back into their lives.

This has been the topic of the weekend for me - how dare a delivery man not make a prior appointment to ring a bell - do you not realize just how comical and stupid that sounds.

However I do not want delivery companies to get the mistaken idea that this may be what people want - the only time I can get deliveries is when they make them in the early evening and I applaud all delivery companies that make that effort to ensure those that are out working all day can also take delivery of ordered goods.

And yet still, you miss the point

What are you expecting? Training courses on how to ring a doorbell?

Just more consideration, really. Like "hey, don't be a !!!!!!. Learn to ring a bell like an adult not a two-year old".

If you don't want people knocking at your door after 6pm then don't use a company that deliver after this time.

    Again, missing the point.
Also, as far as I was aware, I wasn't using a company that delivered at that time. The latest I've ever had a delivery before was post at 6pm. And that was once, and due to my postie being off and his rounds being done by another postie at the end of their usual route.

No I'm not, you received a parcel, not a letter, the delivery times are completely different, especially near to christmas, if you chose not to see what time deliveries are made, do you really then think it is reasonable to complain about your own lack of research/knowledge.

My biggest gripe would have been that the parcel was just left on the doorstep (and potentially stolen), but that seems to have been relegated to second place by poor doorbell ringing technique :naughty:

Our postman always used to ring the bell once. Then we got a dog who gets really excited when someone rings the bell. Now he rings the bell 10x while knocking to see how much he can rile the dog up, and when we've asked him please not to he's just walked off laughing. You complain to RM and get a copy paste answer and nothing changes, exact same thing happened when I complained to them when he used our front garden full of bedding plants as a cut through and trampled them, rather than spend literally two seconds walking around it.

Some people are just dicks, I'm afraid.
