You put a 2 year old to bed based on the time they'll need to wake up when they're 5??!
My DD (3) is a brilliant sleeper, but not till later on. Put her to bed at 8:30pm/9pm and she'll sleep happily for 12-13 hours. I've never understood the UK's obsession with 7pm as some sort of witching hour. The continental approach is far better for everybody. It means we can actually eat together and have visitors of an evening rather than expecting the world to switch off at 6:59pm.
Some people have jobs and can't spare the time to let their kids sleep in till 9/10am. A lot of the time they need dropping off at nursery at 8am which is why it's necessary to put them to bed earlier. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I wasn't answering the OP I was answering your question about why kids are put to bed around 7pm. It's due to work for many people. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Just because the OP only mention the 2 and 3 years olds, doesn't mean they don't have other kids too. Maybe the OP has a six year old as well, and the other 2 have to be taken on the school run0 -
