At the end of the day , the Council Housing dept is a landlord and there's no law barring anyone from trying to rent from a landlord.

Would it be the same issue if a they rented from a private landlord ?, - some large housing associations around here match the Councils rent - using some of the principles set out in earlier posts then they shouldn't be allowed to rent those houses either.

Simply because the council is the L/L some people believe that different rules should apply .............
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

What on earth makes you think 'elderly' people don't use computers? I know lots of people in their 70's 80's and probably beyond who chat online everyday...

the council wouldnt award a house to someone unless they had the 'needs', years ago you went on the housing register and when you got to the top of the list you got a property, nowadays you will only get housed if you are homeless, living in a hostel, or severely overcrowded, I dont know why some people think that social housing is only lived in by people on benefits :o

£28k is not enough to buy a house with these days - it is enough to buy a 2 bed flat :)
Please advise asap where these flats are, so I can post details on the house buying thread. I'll also buy a couple myself, but probably continue to live in my social housing property !
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
