Well, as I see it, you can't do anything about the house, however jealous you may be, but if you are sure they are claiming benefits then you can report them as on that income they probably should not be getting HB.

Perhaps it would be better to accept the friendship is over and get on with your life?

Jealous  or what may i ask? There council house that is in an eldery estate with pickys, the whole house is in desperate need of repair. There is nothing to be jeaous of, i think you may have misunderstand me. I just think there are more derserving people out there who need the house.

Perhaps it would be better to accept the friendship is over and get on with your life? - what has that got to do with anything, i asked for info on council housing and tenants, no need to get personal.

My brother in ,london earns 30 a year, was offered 135, you can imagine what this can buy? nothing!! and no he's not in a council house, but i bet he wishes he was, he pays over 700 a month to private rent!!

obviously it depends where you live. In the area they have the council house they could afford to rent privately

Yes i was talking about facts that none of you know who they relate to.

You've posted their financial circumstances online - you are talking about a particular couple!!!

Perhaps a general question would have been better for what you wanted then? Somet like:

On what terms can people be given a council house and can they be evicted if their circumstances change?

I have seen people who have been knocked down housing lists because the house they were offered needed repair. These people were families living in hostels, they wanted new houses, not old council places!
They got to the top of the list, and they got a house in poor repair, the council saw fit to give them the tenancy.

And the answer would be...when you get to the top of the list.
