Oh don't you just hate it when you type a long post and then loose it - *sigh*
Hello all!
Had a lovely day at the zoo. We wrapped up warm and the sun was shining so we didn't get really chilly until the last hour. Got the annual passes which cost £125 for all of us and we can add another child later if we decide to take one of M's friends which is a bonus. Had some pricey chips etc at lunch for around £20 and then hubby bought coffee and cake later so not a cheap day out. You get a 10% discount in the shops and cafes as a member but looking forward to picnics and noticed an indoor picnic area so we can take our own food next time even if it is cold.
Put £50 in the car so have kept to all budgets except alcohol. I have not bought any toiletries but went over budget last month by buying hair dyes at the end of the month one used this month and one ready for Jan. Still not had a hair cut so might need to do that in Jan - keeping an eye out for a groupon deal! It has been interesting keeping separate budgets for pets, alcohol, toiletries and food/groceries rather than lumping them together. I shall continue to do this in Jan.
Tomorrow will be a chill out day and catching up in washing and then back to work Mon and Tues although I am off the rest of the week.
I am planning an online shop for delivery Tues which will come out of the Jan budget. I have a £12 off £60 voucher but will do a £100 shop to get free delivery by getting lots of cat food, coffee, wash powder, loo rolls, kitchen rolls and fabric softener.
OMG - shiny new threadWill read as soon as I have the boy in bed. All Very exciting, thanks Kat :j
Happy planning :T'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -
I forgot to say earlier - I had a letter from my water company today to say they are reducing my direct debit as from February - and when I checked my details I discovered they will be reducing it by £22! No doubt it will increase after 6 months when they read the meter again, but I am well chuffed with an extra £22 a month for the foreseeable future. In the 'old days' I would have treated myself to something - but that amount can come off my debt now.0

Evening all,
Thanks for the new challenge NSK
Did you see the snow leopard purplejay?
Congratulations Iwillsucceed
Congratulations superdopsa
Spend day today and really annoyed to have lost a SFD. I was due to get my hair cut but when I arrived at the hairdressers she was full of flu so offered a rescheduled appointment at a discount next week. So it could have been a SFD, apart from I'd agreed to meet a friend for coffee to coincide with spending on my hair appointment. Therefore met friend, coffee turned into lunch (diet and spends ruined!) and then went to the supermarket!
Only good thing is I need 3 more SFDs and there are 3 days left in the monthI'm not going anywhere tomorrow apart from the gym and dog walking. Monday, I need to crack on with school work so can stay at home. Tuesday, I am running an errand for my temping boss so all expenses for the day (petrol, food, dog sitter!!!!!!) are being paid for
plus I get paid for the day

I think I have found a new obsession and hobby.. as a Te$co yellow sticker stalker!
Hello Thrifty! Nice to hear from you whilst you're still away on the continent. I hope you're having a fabulous time.
Safe journey home, NSK. I have signed up for the Janus Javier challenge :T
This is officially my very last night shift for the forseeable future :T It feels kinda strange saying that and knowing that having worked shifts for the last 13years! A week on Monday I should be starting my new job (sorry to keep mentioning it! Overly excited!) and I have been granted my final shift, which was a night duty as annual leave, as convienently I had that exact amount of hours remaining. Happy days. So my final shift on here shall be New Year's Day. Wednesday! Wow.
Yesterday (it is after midnight now) was SFD 17/15. I'm hoping to eek out the next top up until Monday, but we're running low on milk. All frozen supplies have been defrosted and drank (I had 12 pints in there! Hah).
Not sure what we're doing for NYE. What's everyone else's plans? We're both working NYE & NYD so I think it'll be a little toast in the house and to bed straight after Big Ben does his thing
DH was wanting to go to the Trafford Centre (Manchester) on Monday to spend some of the money we got for Xmas, which we'd already discussed and decided would be (and has been) put away for our car insurance renewals in March. He wants us to spend £100 each on new clothes. Granted all of his are pretty scratty now and all of mine are 2 sizes too big, but I'm not bothered enough to spend such a big chunk on it. A pair of jeggings from Sainsbury's at £12 would do me! Hah

Did you see the snow leopard Purplejay
Indeed we did Fmess :-) Simply stunning. She was prowling the horizon watching people leave the park as it went dark while we sat having our cake. M has decided the snow leopard is his favourite animal and spent his Christmas money (£10) on a snow leopard hat and also bought a postcard and key ring (to hand on his school bag) with his pocket money. We also saw the Amur leopard which is on the critically endangered list and learned there are only about 40 left in the wild and 200 in zoos. Shocking
Budgets are being sorted for Jan. I have done a Sainsbobs shop for Monday, most of which will come out if the January budgets. The shop has also included a meal deal (risotto (to be served with salad and garlic bread), pud and wine) for NYE. We shall be having a quiet night in with a bit of new years eve telly, probably preceded by a film with M.
Anyway, back to the shop... I have worked out that after it comes, I will not need to buy more laundry products until march! Also ordered 2 wks of cat food and a pretty sure we have enough already to last the month combined. We have mostly enough ratty food for Jan but may need another bag of mix for a fiver. However i may look into buying bigger bags online cheaper. I do supplement their food with weetabix, pasta, fruit and veg and leftovers which we don't miss and don't count to pet budget btw.
Other than the NYE wine, I am buying no more alcohol in Jan (and the Carolans is empty - sob)!
I am feeling so much better btwI have only needed painkillers occasionally the past few days and will be back to work tomorrow. I was really tired after yesterday and did have bad pain for a bit after my chips at lunch but that probably was an overload of fat! I seem to be able to eat cheese, chocolate, crisps and peanut butter without any effect (so long as I don't go mad)which has been lovely. I have so missed these things. However will be cutting then down again in Jan as the diet/healthier living commences :T
Not sure what is happening today yet. The cat woke me up and the rest of the house is still sleeping. Might get away with a SFD but will have to see. Have promised to play skylanders with the boy and we are visiting mum this afternoon. Need to catch up on washing and paperwork.
Enjoy your Sunday'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -
Happy Sunday everyone!
Oooh it's chilly this morning, there was a frost here last night so it all looks very pretty out but cold!
Went to visit my parents yesterday which made a nice change s it got us out of the house having been stuck in for weeks! Mum and I went to Morrisons for a few bits and I bought next years wrapping paper for 48p a roll for 10 m and some crackers for £2.48 chosen by DD who said "Mummy, look you can buy these crackers for next year and save money" bless her, she's only 4 and a half.
Found £20 of M&S vouchers in my purse that I had forgotten about and my mum swapped them for a note cos I don't really shop at M&S whereas she does.
Received the letter about the speed awareness course as well and that's £84, have made allowances for that though.
Today is take the tree down and sort the house out day, I have few computery things to do later and washing to sort. All exciting stuff!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Morning all!
NSK-safe journey home! The new challenge looks fab :T
Still haven't caught up on this threadI came down with some kind of tummy bug yesterday, so my plans of going through the house and decluttering have temporarily come to a stand still. I was hoping to visit some stores to pick up some reduced meats ect, for the freezer today, but that won't be happening
I've yet to tot up my SFD's but I do feel I will just scrape in at 15:)
I hope everyone has a good day and hope to see you all on the next challenge! It makes the debt busting so much easier, having a collective to cheer you on and lift you when your falling or feeling down :T Take care everyone and keep going :T:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
