I'm still here although reading rather than posting, by the time I've read all the threads there just isn't enough time left to post!!
Going well here, December has been a spendy month but I have managed to stick within the food budget so far and the lunch and NSD are on track, thanks for keeping me focused Kat.Determined to save and not squander!
On a mission to save money whilst renovating our new forever home0 -
Hooray for number 8. Thanks NSK!!
:j
After the disaster that has been December, I cannot wait for January. Budgetting starts on the 1st. Diet starts on the 3rd. Three weddings throughout the summer (none of them mine).
Oh... And a wee trip to Paris at the end of April.
Can't wait to see the next challenge. Hope it isn't too challenging, I have already budgetted a lot of money away.

Just got in from work and having a cheeky little beer to "help me unwind" so am just catching up, also it's quiet and noone is clambering all over me demanding my phone/tablets so I can concentrate more.
NSK, I'm not a fan of NY resolutions either, however I do think it's important to set goals to give you a new focus.
Stewby, I too have already budgetted away for the month, with envelopes of money all over the place! It's been expensive because I had DSs swimming, DDs ballet and then I bought them some clothes so not a normal month. However, I think I will have to buy them shoes next month.
I'm proud to say I have paid £65.74 off my CC. i am hoping that by next pay day I will have paid an extra £75.80 off it.
Apple muncher, I'm not sure it really does depend on when spring lands! It does feel like I'll be wearing socks and jumpers forever though.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Good morning everyone  I've just caught up on all your posts. What's shone through is how much you've all talked about your families and spending time together. With the exception of the Next sale chat, nobody's really mentioned material things :T How lovely
And PheoniX, super happy you're taking your stuff back and banking the ££ instead :A
Yikes, a few illnesses though - poor you. Hope you're feeling better now. Rest, and stay indoors out of the vile weather...although it seems a bit better this morning.
So, after a nightshift on Boxing Day, I jumped in my car yesterday morning and drove to Scotland - the weather was WILD!! I'm spending a few days here with my parents visiting the Scottish side of our family and friends. I stopped on the way and spent a whopping £8+ on coffee and toast at a motorway service station (It was planned - I didn't have time/food in the house to make myself a packed breakfast for the road). Anyway, had that about 6 am and got here about 2pm. Just in time to go to a buffet spread that was put on at my aunt's nursing home...all meat sandwiches and sausage rolls etc so I had a cup of coffee and enjoyed the chat. By dinner time i was STARVING!!! We just went to the bar in our hotel as my parents were tired too and the service was so bad - 90 minutes to get served our main meal. Actually, tiredness aside, it was lovely just chatting to my parents so I didn't mind too much, but when the food arrived, mine was the wrong dish. I could have cried! I'd been awake forever and hadn't eaten for 15 hours. I couldn't even be bothered to wait for them to cook something else so I got a little grumpy and watched my mum and dad eat theirs whilst dreaming of having a bath and a long sleep! If I wasn't so tired I'd have done something about it, and they did give us all a glass of wine...I gave mine to my mum so she got a little tipsy).
So, now I'm wide awake waiting for breakfast to open
Got a nice day planned. Visiting my aunt in her care home again this afternoon, then taking another aunt to the station as she goes home. And some family friends are taking us out to dinner tonight
I have £8.52 left I'm my (now combined) food/misc budget. I'm heading to M+S to see if they still have their 2 for £8 offer on their bottles of sparkly stuff. I hope so, was going to get a bottle of Peach Belinni to take to my friend's house tomorrow night and another bottle for New Year's Eve when I visit another friend. I'll be super pleased when I manage December on budget!
Okay, I love you all fellow DDDers, but it's 7am and breakfast is served
Catch up later x0 -
Morning all! I'm working today (boo!), so will probably be a SFD.
Applemuncher- I'd like to say our heating will be off before April, but it's been on LOADS more than normal this year already given how warm it's been, as we are having problems with damp and condensation. Having heating on a bit more and windows open a tiny tiny crack to get air circulating seems to help. Hate having windows open but they're really old double glazing so have no ventilation bit, so we have to do it manually.... Landlord is fitting an extractor fan to the kitchen which will help though. Hopefully it will reduce the time I spend mopping condensation from the windows/window ledges.
Much as I think our pretty old flat is, well, pretty, I have been put off a bit by the maintenance stuff and when the debt is slain and we have a deposit sorted we may well go for something soulless and modern that is cheap to heat and requires no maintenance!!Debt: [STRIKE]£8652[/STRIKE]£8550:eek:

morning all
so i have actually spent money everyday over xmas except xmas eve! xmas day i did online present buying in the sale (total bargains!), boxing day i had to stop on way back home to get petrol then yesterday i did the massive food shop! glad i went yest as all three supermarkets were stupidly quiet so i dont need to go today when they will be busy!
started at morrisons as needed beef shin which they dont sell at aldi or tesco. got 2 bags of oranges and 2 bags of apples for 25p each and a loaf of bread for 29palso got cat food there as offer was better than mr t. then went to aldi for the bulk of shopping but no yellow sticker goodies
then went to tesco and omg they had stupid prices even though it was still over 2 hours to closing! got bread for 8p, green beans for 10p, kale for 10p and mange tout for 14p. they had apples and oranges for 21p but i already had enough! got a massive pack of mince and pork steaks for £2 each as well (only half price but still good value). just wish i had more room in my freezer or would have stocked up on bread and cheap veg. got my 4 monthly stock of chicken and bacon as well (20 chic breasts which weigh about 400g each!!! and got 24 little bags of bacon ready for sandwiches) for £27. think i just need fresh stuff now until payday (19th). freezer is groaning!
weekend of batch cooking ahead- sas casserole and thai curry today, beef vindaloo and spinach and lentil dal tomorrow. yummy
got some surveys to do and going to enter more comps!
my present budget only has one month in at the moment (£37) and i spent £100 on xmas day. going to pay the £100 off using debt money and each month will transfer the £37 to dent acc until its paid off. i have saved so much buying in the sales but i will leave the budgets as they are which means i will have left over money in the present acc next year so can use that for sale shopping
hugs to everyone feeling ill and hope you are all better soon! :grouphug:
re clean and lean i have got that out the library as well, also looks good
just laughing at cat as bought him a little tunnel with some bell balls on it last night (bargain at £4) and he is going mental with it now. seems to really like it! although i have a wooden floor so it is very noisy! :rotfl::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
apple muncher funny you should mention heating. We didn't put our on until nearly November and just had our bill and we have over paid by £90
This means they are reducing our DD by £37 a month
Going to save the £37 though in case we need to use it more for the next few months, but I'm really chuffed
Hoping to switch it off at end of febLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

So I intend to really up my fitness game come January time. I found it difficult to manage one obsession ( debt busting ) AND fitness obsession so didn't do anything this year...
I can totally relate to that! My friends couldnt quite grasp why I couldnt exercise while I was debt busting at the same time. I think doing shiftwork and lots of overtime took its toll on mePlus I wanted to avoid the expense of entering races and doing yoga/pilates/core stuff at the gym! Mind you there was no excuse for putting on trainers and trotting around the block as that is completely free and probably would have released a couple of feel good hormones during the toughest debt busting days
So back to exercise and a 'my body is a temple' regime in January :T I wont be signing up to Skinny Rules as Im shaped more like a runner bean! I would love to put on an extra stone but have real difficulty in gaining weight. I tried a weight gain diet last year but the increase in bread and pasta made me feel bloated and uncomfortable, and the hemp protein drinks made me gag lol! :rotfl:I will turn my attention to this no C.R.A.P diet and eat more natural foods.. If you have any tips on this Kat (as you seem to eat a lot of the foods I would like to eat but I wouldnt know what to do with them!) then I would be very grateful
Thankyou SiouxsieIt's funny but I felt more pleasure in returning those goods than I did in buying them! And well done for driving all that way post night shift! Glad it was a safe journey for you.
LoveaDove what was your camper van book called? I might investigate..
Anyhow, Yesterday was indeed a spend day after a trip to the post office and also paying out for a xmas present I had agreed to chip in to.. No plans for today other than lazing about in pj's and slipper sox
Have a good day all :wave:Ninja Saving Turtle

Apple muncher the good thing about being ill so feverish heating has been off more than it has been on this xmas. PLUS onesies rule.
Need to read meters after as had bills but look under estimated.
Good news car passed mot so treated myself to more medicine, hair dye, fruit pastilles and the naughty bit - 1 Jacket for work £14 and cute top £10. Naughty Next.
Back on best behaviour now, saving by not going out tonight. Cold out there, have to walk dog then staying in, lots of hot fluids and onesie time. Even tho I think onesies have made us more obese, as no tight clothing to stop us eating more lol.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220
