Evening all! popped out to Morrisons this morning and got some brilliant bargains. My 4 year old daughter got £50 in cash collectively for Christmas so when she went to her dads for their Christmas day, I popped down there just as it opened and got her 2 tops, 2 pairs of jeans, a jumper, 2 onesies and lots of underwear all for £30. She is growing so quickly I can't keep up with the clothes! Me and my dad are going to a recycling store tomorrow where they sell second hand furniture and he is getting me a new sideboard for my living room (if we can find one!)
So a NSD here as all I got was Hollie's things!
merry christmas! x
Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!

Hi All,
Hope everyone had a lovely Christams. I was spoilt rotten as OH cooked the Christmas dinner which was lovely. We don't actually buy gifts for each other as we decided a couple of years ago that it was a waste of money buying something just because we should. I really have to say that I don't miss the present at all. If we NEED something we buy it if we WANT something we discuss it
Christmas Eve was a disaster. We were supposed to go out delivering pressies to my daughter and then on to my Mum with pressies for her and my great nieces and nephews. Our plans changed when we saw that the storms had blown down half our fence on one side of the back garden. With 5 dogs and 3 chicks that free range this was a major issue and had to be fixed. Mum had already got food out to cook for us but she took it well. We will need to go delivering in the next few days.
On the plus side I gained another 3 SFD's Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and today this brings me to 10/15 :j OH did go out and get me some diet coke but as I forgot it due to him being impatient on the Xmas shop he paid for it out of his own kitty so I'm claiming a SFD
Need fuel tomorrow and may need to take one of the dogs to the vet  He is running around on 3 legs holding one of his back legs up. Will see how he is in the morning as he is still chasing around with all the rest and does not appear to be in pain. He will let me touch it and pull it in all directions so I think it's only a sprain. He does appear to be putting some weight on it now and can still jump onto the sofa
This is the first Christmas for about 5 years that I have not been ill so it's been really good :j:j
Like everyone else I'm looking forward to the January challenge :eek: sorry I mean :j:j

Hi everyone!
I'm afraid I joined the crazies at 6.30 a.m for the next sale too!I queued outside for 45 minutes to purchase a palm plant LED lit lamp then queued for a further hour and a quarter to pay for it, only to find that the bloomin thing didn't work when I got home! Never mind though because I got refunded and it's pennies in the bank again
The TV treat that I had promised myself never materialised either as the model I am wanting to buy has not been reduced in price! So I have decided against any further spending until my debt is totally cleared in 34 days time when I will be Actually debt free as opposed to virtually Kat :T
Today has been a spendy day after buying a new wall planner (as suggested by mrs GSR!) and Bee drinking glasses in the Next sale. I have re assessed my overdraft this evening and after returning a poor quality rucksack and a pair of ill fitting 5 Fingers for which i will be refunded, my overdraft will be sitting at £31 :j. This means I need to wear a very large MSE hat throughout January to keep that overdraft as low as possible! Bring on the January challenge Kat and count me in! :T
Off to bed buys to catch up on some kip after this mornings early morning bargain hunt..
Nighty night all, sleep tight:)Ninja Saving Turtle

Reading about people going out to the sales and putting themselves through what they do makes me shudder! Sorry to those of you who enjoy it! It's like red wine and tea - I can't drink either to even be polite - they make me grimace and swallow in a most unattractive way!:rotfl:
Another NSD under my belt, making the 15 target now! I hope tomorrow will also be one, making 4 on the trot.
Well, got in a hard workout today. I wish to look less hobbity and more elfy! Ha ha. No chance. 'stumpy' is a strong genetic trait in my family!!
We got a calendar from dh's kids which is brill! They're in Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so we've not seen them this year. It's a wall one for dates, rather than one for colouring in with payments in and out. May have to make one at this rate!
I must say that it is very liberating this not spending money lark:). Not always easy to do with life's spanners thrown in the way, but it gives a sense of control.
Now need to get back into the habit of going to bed by 10pm. It's easy to stay up when on holiday, but I'm such a morning person I dom't know why I do it!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
No sales for me here and no spends either so that's good. What isn't so good is the fact that I've caught the christmas lurgy and have a fever and sore throat so I can't sleep. Horrible but hopefully it will pass quickly.Seriously money saving0

Good Morning Debt Busters, happy day after Boxing Day to you all  (hmm maybe a bit early for beer...) :coffee: (that's better)
Well that's a wrap for Christmas 2013 thenXmas eve hubby popped to Morrisons and got a few reduced food bits for lunch (curry/bhajis/pakoras) and tea (olives, dips and bread) to go with what we had already, along with milk and bin bags (a fine day to run out)! We went to the cemetery and crematorium with wreaths in the afternoon and the weather stayed fine, though it was cold. I got a lovely flower arrangement for mum and then a few flowers for me (my pressie to myself) from the lovely flower shop across the road and then made cards with M for his dad and grandma (probably saved a fiver there
). After that he opened his Xmas eve box, a new tradition for us which had a DVD, pjs, slipper socks, minstrels and reindeer dust. Pjs on, dust sprinkled and then buffet tea while watching finding nemo. Lovely
Ooh M is awake and wanting me to get up, will type more in a mo!'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'0 -

Hello-ha!
Blimey, loads to catch up on here! Hope you all had a good Christmas whatever you did. Get well soon to those of you who are poorly.
Well I was ill the early hours of Christmas day as the night before DH and a land of ice chinese "takeaway" one of the dishes I had was sweet and sour crispy prawns and I think there was a dodgy one. I'm sure it was that cos DH was fine so I spent the day with the runs and tummy ache and not being able to eat! :embarasse Early hours of boxing day it started again and I was ill most of the night, I did manage to eat a small amount though, weighed myself and I have lost 4lbs! So I have ended christmas lighter:rotfl:
Also DS has been really poorly with a nasty cough after his chicken pox so he was very clingy on Christmas day, he put himself to bed at 6.30pm and slept through so he was much better on Boxing Day which was good because all the grandparents were here.
Our total Christmas bill for presents, food and booze came in at £350 so really pleased with that.
I didn't think I should count christmas day and boxing day as SFDs as well more often than not no one spends on christmas day! Anyway if they are included I'm up to 16
So today will be a SFD, DH is back at work and I will be later, the DC have some lovely toys so I will have to sort out where they are all going to go!
At some point I will finish putting stickers on my wallchart, I'm going to make a key and everything*nerd alert*
Looking forward to the January challenge now!Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0
