  • Hi everyone!

    Belated Christmas wishes for yesterday!!!

I've had a nice one - though annoyed with myself as I relented and bought Christmas presents (I don't generally celebrate it as am pagan - but somebody had bought me some...) and then whilst I was out other stuff got bought - and before I knew what I was doing I was spending on the CC again!!!

It was lovely seeing that the person I'd bought them for enjoyed them... but he couldn't afford to buy what he'd bought for me (has some debt also) - and THAT is what really annoys me about Christmas!!! People are pressured to buy because that's what's expected... So yes - we both now have gifts we don't *really* need... and are that bit more in debt again!!! Call me a humbug - I don't care... next year - it will be different. Of course - I take full responsibility for my spending money - I could've said no... I was meant to say no. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!

    Rant over!!!

So - new year - new start. Can't wait for 2014 - I really can't. This time next year I will be debt free... that's a fantastic feeling... I'm going to be ruthless though - no matter what it takes.

Can't wait for the January Challenge!!!

    Hugs all xxx

I could have written this myself!!! I too have said from next week it will be very different! I'm toying with going to Japan in 2015 :D But regardless, from next week I'm not spending a bean unless it's necessary. I must have no more than 1.5 in debt by this time next year!

  • Happy (un)boxing day~!

Today I was doing an amazing impersonation of noddy (being a taxi driver! for a friend - no buses today and taxis with a standing charge or £10!) and did a little sales shopping (two tops, some bits to help the friend out with her new house) and filled up with petrol. with any luck tomorrow can be an NSD as I'm being taken out for dinner once I reach my other half in rainy 'ding. should be arriving late enough that the shops will have closed too.

list of jobs for tomorrow: pay in Christmas money (and then transfer it to feed the monster); check everything that would have paid out today got paid; pack (!) lots to pack unfortunately and then set off on my merry way to the ding.

Looking forward to the new challenge - the January Jump Start perhaps? I'm still not sure how to force myself to achieve these NSDs - am not the best at them!!!

Started the skinny rules again (though did just have Christmas pudding so perhaps we'll start again again tomorrow) today - lots of water drunk and no chocolate, potatoes, rice, bread !!!

sorry to be really boring! hope you've all had a lovely day, and if you're back at work tomorrow *hugs*. in fact, *hugs* to all who want them.

I've had a lovely, peaceful Christmas - just what I wanted! Nowt bought on credit; dd thrilled with her presents; reached 15/15 NSD today and feel no real urge to go to sales.

Inevitably, thoughts turn to January, a fresh attack on debt, a fresh start with renewed conviction, a fresh enthusiasm to exercise, to beat the monster, to take every penny prisoner (thanks to pearla*mearle for that idea!)
    Bring it on, kat!

  • Well hello from the other side of Christmas :rudolf:

It was a very quite affair in our house as we started our working week on Christmas day :( have three earlies in a row, the final one being 11hrs long! If only this shift could have been on a bank holiday, hey ho!!

The best pressies we received were not the ones Santa left under our tree but the yellow sticker bargains we managed to bag on Christmas eve and today (although I'm very grateful for the pressies I received).

We paid a trip to Mr T's place on Christmas eve just before closing and bought a £45 turkey reduced to £11, then visited Morrisons and the Co-op for a further £4 of bargains.

We've jointed the turkey and frozen it and to be honest it will probably last the two of us till March. It was the OH idea to buy it and I agreed on the proviso they didn't complain in Feb that they were sick of turkey :rotfl:

We paid Mr T another visit today and had some absolute bargains on the fish aisle. So the freezer is full once more and I didn't have to cook a thing!

These bargains will get us off to a good start for 2014, which is just as well as it's going to be a tough year...£22,000 to pay off  Please don't think I'm bragging but you guys are the only ones who understand how much these savings mean to our budgets and the impact it will have in January which is such a difficult month anyway :o

This time last year we'd had a busy Christmas buying each other things we didn't really need (on a credit cards) and lots of food that was wasted, what a difference a year makes. Thanks to MSE and you guys our attitudes have completely changed and it's all about the savings now!

I can't wait for the start of the new year so I can start my new spreadsheet and start planning how to get my final bit of debt onto a 0% CC.

NSK - Can't wait for the new challenge, surely nothing can be as bad as the November Challenge. Good news that the pooch reaching the grand old age of 15 :T:T:T as I'm 5'9" I don't qualify for Hobbiton can I be Gandalf??

Traveller - Japan! that sounds amazing, good luck for that x x

Calling14 - Poor you, you're really not having a good Christmas at all are you! Olbas Oil scented hugs being sent your way x x

    Take care one and all

    Lily x x
