Hullooo the Hobbits!
I have finally sleepily crept into my pit after an uneventful night shift and over an hour's overtime butted on the end. My washing is done and drying and I am exercising great powers of self control in resisting opening the presents sitting underneath my tree! :T Christmas day and ripping off the wrappers will commence later this afternoon as soon as I open my peepers :j
I hope santa has been kind to you this year and that you all have a happy and peaceful day

All quiet on the western front... we have stopped doing presents in our house for a few years now.. although brother likes to show us all up and buy a few mini-gifts..... so the house is seriously quiet.....
Turkey is cooking **sob** and my nut roast is on the go... £0.38p bag of sprouts were prepped by your's truly ( who says I am useless) and Gran is roasting by the open fire....:rotfl:...
Pa has his nose in a gardening magasines..(we are getting water lilies for our pond don't you know).. and brother is reading as well....
So.......my mind turns to next year. Not long to go and I am in the prepping mood.......
I intend to prepare / meal plan to a seriously degree next year as I will have more freezer space and fridge space...
So with Grannies donation of £20 I want to buy an all in one food processer / blender / smoothie liduiqiser / chopper / grater / time saving thingy-ma-bob...
If you have one - please recommend... although I might have my eye on a Kenwood.....:T:T:T

Ummmmm......clothes?! I'm not a mad clothes shopping freak but I did recently lose a couple of stone so (put on about 7lb since summer) so I wanted some new winter clothes. I begrudge paying full price for most things so managed to choose some fat face and debs bits quite cheaply. I even got a couple of dresses from River Island which is somewhere I've never set foot in, but I was really impressed with cut. I'm kind of all middle and don't usually suit dresses but they actually look ok! x0 -
Sat here drinking mulled cider, eating Xmas cake and watching Frozen :j Yum.
Tomorrow is our Xmas day so I'll be a little more busier then! x0 -
NSK, you made me laugh when you said your Gran was roasting by the open fire (I'm sure there's a song like that haha but I think it's chestnuts).
I know how you feel about the turkey.
It was one Christmas, when I lived in Brighton, when I became a vegetarian. I went to the butchers at the top of our street for some bacon and he had all the Christmas poultry hanging up. Dreadful. It really upset me and although I do eat the occasional bacon butty now, I couldn't cook a turkey if you paid me.
I'm also doing a bit of forward planning before I fetch my Mum today and I am hoping that you'll have another challenge for us in January.
This is the best I've ever done, stuck to budgets and now on NSD 11.
I've evn got a couple of quid left.
Thanks for the challenges NSK. They have helped me re-focus.

Yes I thought a chuckle on Granny's behalf was welcome on Christmas day... she was roasting... little pink cheeks while mulling over her Sudoku..
Ahem.... the "occasional" bacon butty..... YUCK!.. Go proper veggie you naughty lady!!!:rotfl:“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Happy Christmas one and all!!
Hope everyone is having a lovely, relaxing, and SF day.
DH and I just had an xmas BBQ (quorn burgers for me) which was lovely and cold and romantic! We decided to shun tradition this year. We spent last night with his family, and are going to see mine on Friday so we have a whole 2 days to ourselves!! Even had both cats in one room at the same time for about 2 seconds today. Almost like a little happy family!
Anyway, Christmas love to you xx
p.s I am short and round too, so count me in the Hobbitsis too please! (and getting rounder by the day at the moment...)LBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Hello all and a very Merry Christmas!
I log in to report today is SFD 15/15 :money:
We travelled back from Belfast on Sunday and thankfully have missed all these awful storms, I hope those down South are coping
Monday I was in work, my 6th til last, hopefully 5th til last shift in this job. I wasn't looking hopeful that everything would be completed for a seamless start into my new job. However, my refs have been done and my CRB (or whatever it's now called) is winging its way to me a we speak. Phew. So fingers crossed a weeks notice is enough for my new work to give me thumbs up for commencing on 6th Jan :T
Sorry to Calling14, we buried my grandfather on Xmas eve two years ago. But they're at peace now. Surround yourself with your loved ones.
Chin up to those suffering with these winter bugs. You'll be grand in a week or two.
Late reply to this, but Kat, yes I have tried everything for my skin. Including dietary changes- I went gluten, wheat, diary & pineapple free after a test told me I was intolerant to all of these things. I'm a lifelong vege as it is and these restrictions made me so so miserable, no offense as I know you and a few others follow a vegan diet so have no diary. I re-introduced these one by one after a few months, I had been suffering IBS type symptoms which is why I checked for intolerances. I have only recently, in Sept, re introduced cows milk having drank Lactofree for over a year. I still eat all of those things, but in moderation following a diet overhaul and my insides are so much happier for it. Speaking of today- they will not be happy. All these beige food that I never eat. Oh well. It's one day a year and it's expected of me to eat it. Re the turkeys, we had a quorn roast again :T
Speaking of society's expectations and norms makes me think of a conversation myself, DH & best girl had over a few drinks last night. A friend of best girls got into a relationship with a girl when we were all 24. Prior to this, she had dated men. Therefore she "became" a lesbian. This relationship continued until last month when her friend broke up with this girl after 6years together and has since been on two dates with a man who is a friend of my best girl. Does this now mean she's straight or bisexual or ...? It's the same with a lot of things. Society want to put people into boxes/categories. I'm guilty of it too- I can usually "spot" a vegetarian, if you're head to toe in black you're called a goth, ethnic-y clothing you're a hippy, etc etc. Do you know what I mean? It's the same with Xmas- we all celebrate it similarly and then it's sales and New Years resolutions to break by Feb.:rotfl:
Anyway, enough deep thinking! I nearly had a stroke when DH text me on Monday to say he had decided to go to Mr T instead of our usual Lidls. And then to say he had spent £60  when our normal weekly spends are £35-40. On returning home from work, I did inspect this spend and it was all worth the haul. He did get 4 bottles of wine & a Bucks Fizz for that.
As we got paid early and we ended up using our Dec pay for all of the Xmas gifts, the budgets are a little hazey, but all within target, just not clear on the bank balances if that makes sense? I had planned we use our Jan pay (paid 20th) for my gifts, but realised he needed it earlier to get me a few things online and delivered in time. I shall reset the totals from 26th as is our usual routine. But rejig to reflect all the Christmas spends being done on Dec only pay.
Gifts wise, we did wellI got from DH (budget of £100): knickers which fit (all of mine are 2 sizes too big), fluffy bed socks, chocs, a nice flask, fave perfume which I didn't think I'd get due to the cost, ice scraper mitt :rotfl:, wee headphone jack speaker for my iPad for when I'm in the gym or DHs car, two new hairbrushes (I use two on a daily basis), new pens on pulley out things for work though sadly they're blue ink so I won't be able to use them. From other friends and family, so far, I've got: a lovely wee owl dress I am wearing right now, choccies, snow globe tree dec, duck soap on a rope, frog shower cap, shower gel, wee ('travel sized' to me) Captain Morgans Speices bottle, knitted house key ring & knitted fingerless gloves (by lovely MIL), various LFC paraphernalia, fancy Royal Doulton champagne flutes (from best girl who lives and work as a solicitor in Guernsey £££) :T Still to see DM & DBs x3 - tomorrow. So I've been very very lucky. I spent £100 on DH & then on average £8 on 10 friends and family. DH loved his gifts
Budgets for 27th-26th
Food- £200/250
Fuel- £192/250 (this would have been £223 but DM paid for the wee top up on our way back from NI. DH and car are so good we went to Belfast and back, over 500miles on one tank of fuel)
Christmas- £320/350
