    Good morning,

Somehow lost £15 between my spreadsheets and the numbers in my actual account :(. Probably happened when I listed my items in my receipt individually and plus minus vouchers etc. Heyho, need to perfect that system.

On a more positive note, am only 5p away from earning my first £15 amaz0n voucher for next christmas/birthdays. And OH got promoted to Senior designer. However, I don't think it means a pay rise, it's "just" a recognition of his years of service and achievements. But it'll be good for his CV will he ever need it.

Today won't be a SFD as I'll by him a celebratory beer, need a turnip for dinner (haggis stuffed beef olives, YUM) and bread.

Also the uni announced we'll get the 1% pay increase back dated to August in the January pay packet, which should amount to the pricely sum of 40 quid and then a fiver a month, woohoo. Better than nothing I guess, but ridiculous considering MPs are meant to get 11%. So they are discouraged to take money from other jobs...but where does it end, I'm sure the 74 grand won't be enough either for some.

  • Ooh I just ruined my SPD as we got bored in work and popped to a new B & M store that had opened up near us. Annoying as brought my breakfast and lunch in too! Oh well. Still only 2 SPD's for me. Still spending loads less than I used to I guess?
Just been given a £50 Amazon voucher for doing an interview type thing for Sunday Mail, whoo hoo.
  • Hooray, finally another SFD!

    Sfds = 4/15

Work has been busy today, which was great as the day fleeeewww by! Out for a run this eve, which I'm actually looking forward to :j (yep, I'm odd).

Oooo and I haven't opened my last 3 days of advent calendar doors...I win 3 chocolates! I get far too much satisfaction from such trivial things! :)

  • HI Chickadees...

My my my what a completely boring day I am having at work. Am here until 1900 hours - YEAH! (not)... and am reading all the interesting threads on MSE!

Had a nap yesterday after I came home from work..(3 hours:o) then got myself carcass up and went out for the first real food shop of the month - £48 and a £5 taxi home cause I bought to many heavy things and hey presto enough food for the week and a few weeks after I come home from Ireland on the 29th - which means the other £45 of mine will be brought to Ireland to assist Mumsy with the Christmas shop....

    I got 3 pineapples - hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Other than that I am a little bit boring today. Looking forward to the new Hobbit film out this week....anyone else a LOTR fan?

Overtime on Saturday night which will be the last of the year:T:T:T. Might refrain from any night shifts from now on and make life a little bit easier.

7 days until I go HOME!!

Moneymash what a crazy time you have been having. Sounds like you live with some rather unhelpful folk - not helping you out of the loo?? Seriously - but your money talk had me curfulffled a little ( not hard to do ) but I am SUPER proud of you keeping such a detailed record.

PlymouthScutbaGirl - £50...? Interview of what kind? Is there going to be a picture..:)..and what is a B&M store..?

So looking around me I think I realised why I have put on weight.. (vegan) crisps / tropicana juice, carrots and celery for dipping into caramalised onion hoooomooose, a large portion of pasta that has already been eaten ( with home made sauce ) an empty Ryvita packet - must of had at least 8 with vitalite and vegemite... chopped fresh pineapple and nuts. Shouldn't be too bad but it's a LOT...

..anyone else eat like a right piglet in this weather or maybe it's my boredom at work....

MrsGSR you should get those retractable leads for the littles that you can attach the other end to the front door so they can't go too far....

And people wonder why I don't have kids...

  • Not sure if this will be a SFD for me, as I am in work tonight and might have to go past Tesc@ and get some fizzy water to drink.

Speaking of work I have decided I no longer want to do any extra shifts anymore. I have been on annual leave and have really weighed up the pros and cons and although it's extra money it's not much and I am just wasting my life for a pittance. I get no OT rate or night rate, don't build up TOIL/holidays and it can be really risky back-breaking work (I work in Healthcare).

I think I am holding on to get a further qualification which I am completing at the moment, which will lead to a promotion and small pay rise, but then that's as far as I can go. It's just a job and not a vocation. I was watching a debt-free scream on the net and this guy said he doubled his income to pay off his debts. The man was asked how he'd done it, he said he applied for jobs that were double his income! I think I'll try his strategy I have nothing to lose.

The thing about doing loads of extra shifts, or even overtime is that you rely on it, and it gives you an inflated wage which isn't real and can disappear at any time. My real wage will be a truer representation but much lower. If I can work for a pittance in my current job, I can work for a pittance in a job I would enjoy more, so what's the point in staying.

I will still need to pay off my remaining debts. I intend to @bay and do surveys, swagbucks and reviews. I may join the make £10 a day thread in the New Year. Although not a good start, I haven't logged in to one of my survey sites in 2 months and they have just reset my £12 balance to £0

In other news I phoned my bank today as my £0.00 balance loan is still showing. They said it takes a week to close the account, I had to stop myself from saying 'why do you think I'm phoning?!' They did confirm that I didn't owe anything and that they would cancel the DD which hadn't been done. I will get a letter to officially close the account, fingers crossed this includes an interest refund of some sort. Strangely the man I spoke to sounded like the same man who was horrible to me, when I phoned back in March and said I would struggle to pay April's DD because I was seriously ill and couldn't work. It's just 9 months later and I have paid the loan off a whole 12 months early...I hope it was the same guy!

I had the same thing with the woman I spoke to in November 2012 at my bank. I had asked her to reduce my overdraft each month so it was gone by the end of the year and that my loan would be next. She seemed REALLY happy to tell me all about her son who lives in London ( my bank is in Northern Ireland ) and she was telling me all about his wage - really weird as she isn't a family friend. However she also implied I wouldn't get everything paid off by the end of this year so I specifically asked for her when I called in to close the account - shame she wasn't the one that called me back......

If I was in your position I would not do OT. I get double bubble on Sunday's / time and half weekdays and shift disturbance for working passed 2300 on nights... I also have petrol costs reimberused. I know I am very lucky but have NEVER relied on it and always plan my month according to my basic wage..... I have known people to base their mortgages on OT which is really dangerous because it's a privilege not a right. If I was in your position I would laugh at them if they asked me to work again - you need to feel sane and the only thing I could think of on Sunday getting up at 0500 or getting home at 0800 was "thank goodness that was double time"....

I like your way of thinking though that you could do a different job for the same money but at least be happier.. from what I have read on your other posts over the months you are clearly very good at your job just underappreciated....

Time to look for something new!!! And double your wage....

NSK I always over eat in the winter. I just always want warm food, porridge for breakfast, pasta for lunch and something warm for dinner, plus hot puddings and custard are a must in the winter ;)

    SFD number 4 today :)

Just walked the dogs, hoovered, tidied, put the washing in and I'm now sitting down to an evening of planning! Role on the holidays! (Although I'm hoping to do some temp work over the holidays)

Hey everyone, how are you all? I was all set to post yesterday to declare it a SFD when my laptop woe got the better of me and I jumped in my car and drove to the Apple store...and spent a fortune!

So, for the last few weeks I've had to scale back on the amount of work I do in my second job because it is mostly computer based and my old laptop was in need of a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot of CPR, taking up to 3 hours to power up in the mornings. I'd already decided to replace it with a MacBook and tried a few times to buy one (complete with carefully negotiated discount of course :money:) to no avail. So yesterday I just bought the blooming thing (managed a small discount but to be honest, I can get back to full speed with my work now and make up any extra that it cost). I've been at it for about 24 hours now and still don't know how to do half of the things I want to :rotfl: I pledge to thee dear leader Kat, that this will not affect my debt busting and I plan to pay for it (it's on 0% finance) by picking up pennies (and hopefully pounds :)), ebaying and upping the money-making ante! The money for it will be kept separate from my regular accounts (oh, and I'll set up a DD for the minimum payment each month so that I don't get a black mark on my file ).

Phew, confessions over and I'm having a good month otherwise. Clocking up the SFDs - I'm being even more frugal this month and I'm finding it quite hard to part with my cash :D I'm due a bumper supermarket shop (Thursday probably) and I have the usual annual supermarket temptation money off vouchers (worth £21 if I spend £80 over the next 4 weeks) so I shall plan, plan and then plan some more to see if it's worthwhile to use them.

So far then, my month looks like this....
    SFD: 5/15
    Food: £4.67/£100
    Misc: £6.50/£100
    Petrol: £30/£60
Food Bank: £13.50 (to be dropped off when I get a chance this week)

I feel further into the month than we actually are, but I think that's because it's two weeks til Christmas when I'll shut down for a few days :xmassmile
