NSK - PlymouthScutbaGirl - £50...? Interview of what kind? Is there going to be a picture..:)..and what is a B&M store..?
Well long story cut short......3 years ago I got ripped off on Ebay (partly my own stupidity) for £180 pram. I tried hunting the woman down and used 192.com. They basically handed over my details (with my permission) to Sunday Mail who wanted to run a story about the perils of shopping online at this time of year. Tbh I HATE having my pic takenand my little boy had the devil up his bum the day they wanted a pic so it was quite hard work. So much so I'd rather poke my eyes out than do that again  So I think it went in last Sunday, much to the hilarity of my family and friends, but the upshot is I got given a £50 voucher which I didn't expect!
Hmmm not sure what B & M stands for, but used to see people talking about the bargains they picked up there on Hotukdeals. Funny as we thought we were off to M & Co, and when we got there it was B & M. Grabbed some little bargains like washing powder for my chaps business. Was more an excuse to escape the office :T0 -
I've been pottering on with the Christmas presents and coated 2 more packets of marshmallows in melted chocolate today - without tasting a single one! Sugar-free is good!
Went with dd's school to a Christingle service, which was lovely.
Phoned the hairdresser's to get an appointment and they'd had a cancellation so I'm already shorn! Last time, it cost me £45, so I was expecting to have to part with a wad of dosh. However, it's taken me years to find a hairdresser who consistently cuts my hair well. I only go about twice a year, much to her mockery! Well, this time I asked her not to wash it or blow dry it, as my skin's so dry and sensitive. And she 'only' charged me £25! So, it was an extravagance, but I feel soooooo good! And that's that done til June!
Apart from that, I've not spent a bean! Oh is going out tonight, so I can turn the heating down and get a blanket and snuggle to finish the last dog finger puppet.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Evening all...
I like Hobbitses too!!!
I was doing so well... but realise where I go wrong!!! Am currently dating - and whilst alone, I am mostly reasonably self controlled - when I'm out with my bf - it goes out the window...
What to do?
I went to get a loaf of bread and he wanted to go to the big store near me to see what it was like... Then he started buying nice stuff... then my resolve vanished and my basket was soon filled with stuff... Afraid my MSE head vanished!!!
Similarly we went out the other week together and I ended up buying lunch (which was lovely) but wiped out my food budget...
I know *I know* it's down to me to take responsibility and just say no... but I find it hard to just say 'can we pay for ourselves' because he likes to do things together and doesn't think twice about paying for me. Arrrgh. Am so annoyed I allowed my budget to fall into jeopardy... AGAIN!!! I'm literally in budget by a few £££ and have 10 days to go before I get paid. I have more than enough food/fuel but zero spends left.
I was thinking on it today and decided:
1) Only go shopping on my own or online where temptation will be less and on a set day of the week.
2) Make him aware of what my budget is per week and say, 'this is all I have for this week - can we pay for ourselves so I can manage my budget?' When he inevitably says 'I'll pay' decline... <because then I'm in that loop of feeling obliged to pay next time...> When I'm debt free I can relax a bit - but I'm never going to make it if I'm always tripping up.
Any/all suggestions welcome!!!
On the plus side my cupboard is stocked to capacity!!!

Hello all! Just popping in to say I cracked and bought a sandwich at lunch! Not really sure why-as I was walking there I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it but then gobble gobble at my desk and the deed was done!!!
In other news-I have asked at work to be kept at the forefront for extra work-so the guy who doles it out has said he would which will be v handy for keeping us afloat as/when OH is looking for a new job.
The past few days have been spent healing him and caring for him psychologically-he's still not yet ready to get out there and start looking but this weekend I've said we'll work on his cv and he can get in contact with recruitment agents and let them know he's back on the market so to speak!!
Other than than spends are minimal and we are eating from the cupboards and freezer. Don't want to spend anything before we go away for Xmas so will keep working on that!
So-a light at the end of the tunnel? Maybe! But I'm not going to jinx myself!!!!!!!!
Lovely to catch up with everyone else's stories too (hobbitses!!!!)

Oh Abundant, I feel your pain. Good for you for living a normal life while debt busting though - I'm an all or nothing kinda gal and I really really want to remain single tip the debt's gone...only because I would be exactly the same as you and get led astray...actually, that's not the only reason - I LOVE being single - but while I have debt, unless David Beckham comes knocking, I'm staying single!NinjaSavingKat wrote: »Okay Siouxsie........ Yes, I went for the MacBook Air 13 inch entry level (at an eye watering £891.60 with discount ) and I went ultra mad and bought the Microsoft Office package because I couldn't get on with the Apple version of what we know as Excel! That was another £109.99  but now I'm super happy with itIt's on a 0% credit card so I have 20 months to pay it off (which I won't take obviously!). I've set up a DD for the minimum payment of £25 and I'll overpay what I can each month using the pennies/pounds/ebay method I mentioned earlier. Ha ha, I found another penny when I was at the Post Office posting an ebay item so I'm only another 100,158 pennies away from paying it off :rotfl:
Yeah, looks like I'm the biggest naughty stepper this month!0 -
Hey all
Seems like a lot of good vibes and positivity on here tonight. I am feeling pretty down in the dumps today. Work is very overwhelming atm, and I am so so tired. Kitty is poorly and has a hacking cough. Took her to vets yesterday and was happy to part with money for antibiotics for her, but she doesn't seem to be getting much better... it's so upsetting to see her like that. Also DH and I have been planning a lovely (first married) xmas alone together all year in our lovely house, but sitting down and looking tonight at the minimal expectations of our families made us realise how little time we are actually going to have at home on our own and how much of it is chasing up and down the motorway... and as usual my role as family negotiator means I end up sorting out everyone else's problems and having to come home for a rest!
Also, in line with discussion on here about eating more, I am eating so much and have put on tonnes of weight. I feel very slobby but too tired to exercise, which is something I used love to do. Meh.
Ho hum, sorry for my pity party. I will be OK. On the plus side, despite the vet's bill we seem to be on target financially this month and I have 5 SFD so far. Looks like we will get the last non 0% card paid off which was my dearest wish before 2014.
Right, off to get in my warm bed and sulk with a poorly little kitty and a very tolerant DH!LBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Hi everyone! NSD today!
Well i tried to cancel the Harrods order but they said it's too late:o However, today I had his parents evening and bar one lesson, my son is doing very well in deed and one of his teachers actually said he is so peaceful, he should go into politics  I was wondering if we were talking about the same child, lol. After hearing he is predicted an A* in spanish, maths, science and English, i've decided to take the fall out and not spend anything more till friday for my daughter's birthday dinner.
My daughter kept saying she wants a red velvet cake from the hummingbird bakery. I nearly had a cardiac arrest seeing their prices  £26.99 for a 6 inch cake! I've got eggs in the fridge, so I feel a Betty Crocker moment coming on on Friday
I'm another one who loves puddings and have been eating like a pig now the weathers changedApple crumble and custard-yum!
Abundant I feel your pain. I split up with my ex last year and he loved meals out. Luckily, because i am a single mum, he didn't push it a lot. It did use to play havoc with my savings though (and i'm tight, lol).
Siouxsie-well done on the Mac book. At least you are fully justified, lol.
Good luck everyone and for those of us that have temporarily fallen off the wagon, we must jump back on and stay ON:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
Nsd for me today. Even managed to stop myself going into the corner shop to get chocolate. Have managed to gorge myself on dinner (one of my freezer meals) and feel slightly uncomfortable!Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 6000

Yes yes! I loves the hobbitses!he doubled his income to pay off his debts. The man was asked how he'd done it, he said he applied for jobs that were double his income! I think I'll try his strategy I have nothing to lose.
So true. Sometimes all it takes is having the obvious pointed out to us. Good luck with the qualification, keep at it.
So I've had a spend day today but within budget. Got groceries so now set for another few days. Found a suitable gift which can go into school as secret Santa gift and bought the required birthday gift.
Trying to work out what I'get got to play with until January salary comes in which isn't easy. Remembering also how quickly I can get caught up spending over the holidays I've decided to bring forward all my bills (those I can anyway) so that they are paid before I go away for Christmas. The ones that can't be paid before Christmas I will set aside money for. I know it isn't rocket science but this is new tricks to me! Reason for doing it is to see what, if anything, extra I can put towards my one CC. I'll let you all know when I have oversight!
Hope everyone are well and feeling strong!?Finally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!
