Hello fellow Hobbitses,
Managed to get out of another social event. A friend wanted to have a birthday party in her house (usually messy) but cancelled (i suspect pregnancy). Now it's back on as a dinner out for £26 plus drinks. Being preggars i cant be bothered anyway and we won't get a babysittet, so OH can go on his own. A bit jealeous as his social calendar is full and mine is nonexcistent. Also looking fwd to go to my parents in germany with DS but a bit jealous of OH having time to himself, long lie ins and prob a few party nights. Bahumbug.

I know how you feel! My DH has had two work do's the last two weekends which clashed with mine. I didn't want to go to mine anyway as I didn't like the menus and I hate contrived Christmas parties but I was insanely jealous of him staying in a hotel for the night for one of his. Having not yet had a night away from DS (who is 2 next month) it's my idea of a dream.Squirrelling away in September No 33It's not about the money, it's about financial freedom, being in control of it and living in the natural world and not a material world0 -
Hello all. checking in with my first SFD of the month (hangs head in shame). But luckily I am persevering with this month and not bailing out like I did in November.
I have been quite MSE though and used vouchers and points and yellow stickers for my shopping.
I have bailed out of one Christmas lunch (went away to see my brother and his family), and have made an excuse to bail out of one on the 21st, and am working on getting out of one on the 14th. For me it is a combination of can't be a***d, bah humbug, and not wanting to spend any money! I would rather stay at home in the warm watching TV, snuggled under my blanket with a glass of my duty free wine, and something nice for tea.
Like quite a few others, I too like comfort food in the winter - something hot and comforting for my supper, and if a dessert with hot custard is available, even better! I did go to the gym on Monday before work, and am thinking of going for a run in the morning. I did walk to work today which is 2 miles so that's not too bad.
Anyway, enough wittering. Hoping for SFD number 2 tomorrow. Must get around to posting my totals and budgets as well! I am so disorganised.
Have a nice Wednesday everyone!0 -

Hello hobbitses. (i add 'sies' to a lot of words so this sounds normal to me).
So... yesterday was a spend-free day. Today wasn't but I kinda folded and I was kinda good. I bought a sandwich at work for a quid (was my fifth 12 hour shift in a row so I felt I deserved it)... I also bought four strips of raffle tickets. (for the hospital's charity).
As a result, today was a spend day of £5.
:undecided
I want to unleash the big kid in me and go to see the new disney film "frozen"... I just need to steal a kid so that I don't look weird.
(disclaimer: that was a joke. I am not a weirdo who would kidnap a kid just to go see a movie).Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Looks lovely Thriftylass, job well done!

Morning all!!!
Thanks for the advice/support everyone!!! I have seriously thought about becoming single but those pesky feelings get in the way lol. He keeps asking me about a holiday too!!! When I say if I do it - my debt free date will be pushed back by 1-2 months - he doesn't really see how that is important to me. Plus - I've never been much of a holiday person and I can think of loads of other things I'd rather spend £500 on to be honest!!!
Thrifty - new kitchen looking awesome!!! You have done a great job!!!
Kat - I think Hobbitses is here to stay!!! Does that make you Golem??? I'm sure he's the only one that refers to his Hobbitses like that HAHAHAHAHA!!!
A day off! Plan: gym, relax, clean/laundry... another SFD!

That was another £109.99  but now I'm super happy with it
It's on a 0% credit card so I have 20 months to pay it off (which I won't take obviously!). I've set up a DD for the minimum payment of £25 and I'll overpay what I can each month using the pennies/pounds/ebay method I mentioned earlier. Ha ha, I found another penny when I was at the Post Office posting an ebay item so I'm only another 100,158 pennies away from paying it off :rotfl:
Yeah, looks like I'm the biggest naughty stepper this month!
Oh, very jealous! I'm looking at the MacBookPro 13" myself (even more ouch!) but as my dad works in education he can get me a good discount. Still awful lot of money. My last MacBook Pro has lasted 7 years so planning to pay it off in under 2 sounds like a fine investment to me.My daughter kept saying she wants a red velvet cake from the hummingbird bakery. I nearly had a cardiac arrest seeing their prices  £26.99 for a 6 inch cake! I've got eggs in the fridge, so I feel a Betty Crocker moment coming on on Friday
Here the Humminbird recipe if it helps:

Yeah I get the issues with my BF too. I'm assuming you had the DF conversation with him? I had LBM while with BF, so I wasn't about to ditch him for DF-ness :rotfl: He understands, and he pays for more than me, which took a long time to get used to. But part of it is the lifestyle he chooses - he doesn't really cook, so there's little food in the house. Often we go to the supermarket he buys the groceries and I cook. I feel fine about that because when he comes to me I feed him from my food budget.
I also find that if I'm happy the debt busting is easier, or my psyche is more resillient (sp?!) or something, so if your BF makes you happy you'll find ways to be frugal and together.
