    Hello

    I know there have been threads regarding fruit and veg boxes in the past however I thought it would be useful to start one along the lines of the meal planning thread yet specifically linked to the contents of our fruit and veg boxes :D

    My box arrives every Wednesday and I will post it's contents, the meals I am thinking of and any recipes that come to mind and I would love if others would do the same.

    Sharing ideas will help us out when we have a glut of items of if something arrives that we have never tried before, celeriac being my new veg.

    Hope those that enjoy their boxes will join me and I will get things started properly tomorrow :)

    my box arrived today,to be honest most of it is on reserve for christmas day/boxing day dinners as follows,.
    potatoes,=roasted,boiled,mashed.
    carrots and turnip= steamed then mashed together,
    cauliflower and broccolli=,steamed as florettes.
    parsnips=some will be roasted.
    Brussel sprouts=steamed and roasted with bacon
    Leeks=going into a chicken n leek pie,
    Butternut squash,with some onions,carrots and parsnips=soup,
    Didnt get red cabbage as expected,got spinach,not sure what to do yet,last lot was used raw in salads and shared with guinea pigs,
    Fruit=bananas,pears,apples,oranges,tangerines,kiwis,and plums,will all be eaten just as they are...the pineapple will be cubed and added to cocktail sticks with cheese n pickle...very 1970's lol.
    sorry nothing very adventurous there,I must take time to read my River Cottage Veg book.

    Hm... an easy answer is to search Old Style :)

    So for your celeriac... What to do with celeriac?

    That's the main thread - but there are others:- celeriac threads here on Old Style MoneySaving

    I am lucky that I do not have to rustle up xmas dinner this year as I am going to family :D. However I have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen today and I have had some ideas as to what I could make with some of the boxes ingredients.

    Today I have made:

    • Cheese and onion muffins
    • Watery veggie soup
    • Leek and goats cheese quiche
    • Fried potatoes - a taste of heaven!
    Tomorrow I am going to make bubble and squeak which I adore and we are going to have sprouts fried up with bacon and a lot of butter :). After that I will be having heaps of veggies with my boxing day steak pie!

    Other things I am thinking of include:
    • Veggie pasta bake
    • Veggie curry with nan
    • Cheese and veg pie
    • Squash rissotto
    Not too sure what to do with the fruit as I have been having apple struedal muffins with the excess of apples but I fancy trying something different with them and then of course there is the pineapple :D
