What to do with celeriac?

I've bought a small celeriac to try from Tesco. Was thinking of mashing it up with potatoes tonight, only thing is I'm not sure what to do with it! Is it just like a potato, do I need to peel it? or just chop it up as is?
It's an ugly looking vegetable that's for sure!
Cheers for any help

The new Asda near me started stocking Celeriac - seems folk round here don't like anything new cos they are always reduced to 30 or 40p at the end of the day :j The one I bought tonight is in the SC with some carrot, onion, HM stock and a couple of bay leaves from my garden;) all surrounding the turkey joint reduced from £5.68 to £2.39:T
So - 2 - 3 portions of soup, and a good few meals with th turkey - curries, sandwiches etc. Bargainous!
I usually mash celeriac with potatoes and swede for a really tasty and healthy alternative to mash with anything - fab on HM Shepherds Pie/Fish Pie!
next stop - coleslaw as recommended above - cheers saxy1:beer:"...I, being poor, have only my dreams;

You can buy celeriac salad in French supermarkets. It's just celeriac in a mayonaise. I think the celeriac is usually blanched first though.It's really nice.0
