Daily Mags - what is happening?

Ok, let me try to illustrate something here!
This issue has occurred because some of us do the mags when we have time (for me that's not often) but from our own bookmarks/spreadsheet. Now This "Special" Christmas Competition was ONLY in the magazine and therefore does not appear here on the link to the prize draws when you scroll through.
ALL we are asking are that these ones be posted separately on the main board for ALL to see as they are often for very nice prizes.
I really hope that clicking through to the above link can show what we mean! That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free0 -
I'm certainly not happy that the mags board is locked, mjm. It is the only one I use these days. I think don't think toniq did anything maliciously. Apparently an MSE rule is that every comp should have its own separate thread on the main board so she was following that rule. I leave these things to MSErs who know better but I don't like thinking that someone should be upset over this stuff.0

before i say anything i'd just like to thank all the posters of the mag comps and cornish for all her hard work on the thread.
I preferred the old method of posting on the main board but after seeing that there are now so many mags to cover i can totally see how much work that would entail, but i do hate the new method.
Wouldn't a good compromise be to give each mag a single thread on the main board much like the puzzler/tab threads?
They work perfectly well and suit both style of comper and it would mean new comps are just added to the end of each thread.
It's just another idea to add to the mix and no offence is intended to the mag posters at all, as i said they do a fantastic job
edit: And if one person keeps a single thread to update, the expired comps can even be deleted so there's less to go through
fantastic idea! :t:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
First can I say it makes no difference to me whatever way they are posted because I only do the clicktowins and do them each day so would see new ones when I go on the site each day.
Second I am really shocked to read some of the comments on here I saw Toniq post the few comps on the main board and thought it was a good idea and judging by the thanks and comments she got many others did too so to have her obviously upset by this is really saddening when all she was doing was trying to help others , also for it to be said that people should put up or shut up is quite ridiculous really, people do what they can to help on the board , some post comps , some help with merges etc etc, just because they have voiced an opinion over something why should they then be told to put up or shut up? Yes obviously a lot of work does go into posting , but it is voluntary , no one is saying that anyone has to do it. I don't have an answer and there probably is never going to be one that will suit everybody , but I think Toniq had a very good point and if I remember rightly others did too when they said a lot of people were missing out , that was obvious judging by the thanks and comments that were received when the comps were put on the main board.I hope something can be sorted that is agreeable to the majority and then hopefully this can have a line drawn under it.0 -

If the only - is that we get lots of extra posts on the main board, it'll only be 1 for each new comp per mag. I already skip far, far more than I enter
Plus we now have the X (Which we didn't have before) so it's no real hardship....
Just to give you another insight into this GrannyBiker and I hasten to add this is how it will affect me but I do realise it may not affect others.
I have half an hour in the morning, half an hour at lunch time and max of a couple of hours at night to comp. The way I comp is in all those available times I go through the main board and bookmark any comps I want to enter and red cross any I don't. Now that takes up a good amount of my time in doing that and on average there are 10 pages to go through in the morning, 12 pages at lunchtime and in the evening anything between 10 and 20 pages.
If all the mag comps and rafflecopter comps now get posted on the main board for me it will be a hardship as I simply do not have the time and right now I have no idea what I am going to do.
Personally, I too like the idea of a single thread for each mag just like the Puzzler and Take a Break mags. The best things in life are free.....0 -

Totally Agree hun xxxxThink it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0 -
This was all prompted because of the fear main board compers would miss out on the larger prizes, a simple compromise would be to carry on as the threads are now (because a lot of people like them that way - and its a very efficient way of posting and updating them) - but any prize that exceeds a set value is to be posted on the main board and linked to the mag daily thread.
Just set a value, adding 780+ posts monthly to the board is just not doable unless you have a swathe of new mods offering to help.
The value could be £200+?
This will not only mean larger prizes can be entered by those who don't want the little prizes, but will also publicize the thread and encourage use for the smaller prizes.Wishing you all good luck!

I haven't read everything but as I interpret it...
The main "For" was that it suited many people and freed up the daily thread that was becoming clogged with mags.
The main "Against" was that comps were only in the sticky and not on the main board- something that many feel is vital if ALL compers are to benefit.
I interpreted Glad's suggestion that we have 3 daily stickies...
1) Daillies
2) Rafflecopters
3) Mags
(If I'm wrong, please don't flame me, I'm truly trying to help)
Now surely there's a compromise?
If, like other dailies, (including the rafflecopters that are now dominating dailies thread,) all comps are posted on THE MAIN BOARD then linked to the appropriate sticky, won't that suit [STRIKE]both[/STRIKE] all camps? It's done with other dailies, so why not all?
jambodaveprince has volunteered to start a sticky on the regs board which will run the same as the daily sticky does now
so comps will be posted on the main board for people who want that and people who like them all in one thread can use the sticky in regs
I did ask last week how many comps were added on average to the mags sticky and the answer seems to be 50-60, so that's how many extra comps will be added to the main board each week
Layla will continue with the daily sticky as it is but it would be great to have a volunteer to do a 3rd sticky for rafflecopters
we're never going to please everyone and this thread shows the split on posting on main/posting in one thread is about 50/50
hopefully the above will suit most people as we'll have both, it worked well previously with the only problem being the amount of work for one person to update the first posts in the daily sticky, if this is shared out it will be much better and no one will miss a comp, big prize or otherwise, which has always been what MSE compers give their time up for
it's a busy time of year so let's do this now to stop any upset and after Xmas maybe the other ideas can be debated in full :xmassign:I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Sorry I'm getting a bit angry, I'm doing the dailies and there is no need to trawl through the thread as it is kept upto date, I have worked really hard on it, the raffle copters are posted separate to facebook etc, so instead of whining about it think of the hard work that people like me put in.0

Seems the easiest way surely.? xxThink it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0
